I don't think so. It can be hard for babies to digest that this early, and could make stomach problems worse. Better to wait. Ask your pediatrician if you feel strongly about it.

Don't worry, the baby will start sleeping better from here out without cereal. The brain matures enough at 7 weeks to allow them to sleep longer. Start a nighttime routine, like a bath, a bottle, and some rocking. Over the next month the baby will start to sleep longer and longer at night.

The first few weeks are hard, but it gets better from here, I promise!

Hey there.
I have a six month old and we went through this whole thing with her. EVERYONE kept telling us it would help her sleep better at night. I made the mistake of giving her a tiny tin y bit and I regret it. She screamed for DAYS!! Her poor little belly didnt know what to do and then because it was solid her eliminations were more solid also. Which she wasnt used to and made her scream even more.
Little babies - that young - their digestive systems are not capable of handling solid foods. Though breast milk is best for your little one - that is up to you. But please dont give her cereal until she is at least 4 months old.
Good luck and congrats on the little one!

I've read that cereal is not all that wholesome.
The process of turning the grain into cereal removes the nutrition.

I would try fruit. Some soft fruit like grapes (with the pips removed, or banana would be far more nourishing.

When I had my last child I asked my doctor if I could give her cereal at 2 weeks. He said I could and I did. Just a little in her formula still liquidy though. It helped her sleep a little better. Every baby will respond differently I believe. Ask your doctor to be sure though. Get his/her opinion before you do anything.
