I dyed my hair a purple based black about 4 months ago, I naturally have dark brown with red tint. I really want to dye my hair light again, a little lighter that my hair was before with a little more red in it. Is this possible or will it turn my hair ugly colors? Also let me know of any helpful websites you know about. Thanks!

okay if there's one thing i know its dying my hair!! I'm sporting all black right now. was fire engine red. I've been Blondie green purple red white black brown pink. to lighten your hair with it being black is not an easy task. it'll take maybe te whole day. if you have a sall'y beauty supplies in your area go there and buy this dye called....hi-lift? (i seriously just for got the name) its specially made for dark hair to lighten it. it come in 5-6 different shades of red. it works very well, but i havent tried it yet on black. that's why i would suggest doing this: bleach your hair just to get the black out! use the super blue powder bleach with a 30 vol cream developer (sally's) leave it on for 45 mins! wash your hair. condition with ion intensive hair repair (sally's) . leave that on for 15 mins. rinse and blow dry. your hair will feel great! then use the hi lift stuff. leave that on for 30 mins. it should come out fine. but i'm just a girl That dyes my hair all the flipping time. hope this helps!!!!

Try putting 1 part lemon juice with 1 part conditioner and mix through your hair. Leave it on for a couple of hours (best if you go out in the sun) and then rinse. This should lighten your hair considerably.

The very best thing you can do, though, would be to go to a professional salon. They should have products that can counteract your dye. If you try to strip your hair at home using over the counter dye removers, you'll probably end up with pink hair.

L'oreal Hair Dye Remover -- I got it at Ulta but I've seen it at Target, too. I can't guarantee it won't fry your hair, because it's pretty strong, but it took me from dyed dark red to fairly light blond in about an hour, and I only lost about an inch of my length. It will strip out all of the dye in your hair, and you'll be left with whatever color you hair has been lightened to from all the chemicals.

Just remember, it's pretty stong (it's got to be to strip all that color out). You have to be prepared that you MIGHT lose some length.

Go with a professional, because they will probably strip the old color out first then use a lightener. You will probably end up with a mess if you try something at home, though there may be a kit you can buy at home to strip the old color. THen use special conditioning treatments at least 2 weeks before re-dyeing.

Go to a professional when your dealing with mixing colors and overlapping. Screw around with your hair too much without letting it rest long enough might not only give you a color you don't want, but also cause it fall out.

Tip:
Paul Mitchell "the conditioner" helps replenish my dyed hair. My hairdresser is surprised my hair isn't that damaged considering it's to my waist. -Oh yeah, don't use any Henna (spelling?) products on previously dyed hair.

Semi permament colorings are stable to apply like loopy shade and instructions, this sort of dye isn't detrimental you could positioned it on as much as you %. It would not contrain any peroxid. If ur hair is allready broken i could sugest applying a conditionin therapy, alongside with nioxen this could fix ur hair.

I have used 50/50 water added to peroxide , let it stay on 30 minutes then washed and conditioned. I have blond/ red hair natural... so if you try this it will take longer time . I can't say how long..and it may take extra peroxide ..

if your hair is thin then it will make it really weak! but thick hair is very hard to dye it might go a little yellowish color so i would be very carfull and go get it done at a hair place and get it done by people that know what there doing

best of luck!!

You can def. fix your hair the way you want it, but my honest opinion is to go to a professional. I have tried to dye my hair so many times, and I always end up setting up an emergency appointment with my stylist.

I would go to a salon if I were you. It is very tricky dying hair from dark to light and vice versa. If you go too light too fast, it could turn orange, and that's never cute!
