I couldn't agree more, I've been saying that for several months.
North Korea has WMD's, Iraq didn't. North Korea is a real threat, Iraq wasn't a threat, and was boxed in.

At the end of the Korean war. Which was in the 50's mind you an Army study stated that the North Korean defenses along the 38th parallel could not be forced without the use of tactical nuclear weapons. I doubt much if the situation has changed.
There is one thing we could do however. Send enough Carrier groups to provide air cover over the north and convince the Chinese to invade from the north. Their ground troops have not seen much action this generation and they worry about how much time in combat we are getting in Iraq.

I think we attacked Iraq so we can show North Korea, and Iran we are a force. But there putting up a fight. An I do think stability, and peace should happen. But we need to stay in Iraq to calm that area down so they don't become a Shite theocracy. But North Korea, and Iran I think we can stop them with diplomacy. There not a threat yet. Not for a couple years I think. I mean those people in North Korea do need to be free though. But then you got to think. Maybe the Nukes aren't the bad thing. We can fly a plane in, and bomb it right out of there. It is alliances. North Korea could allign with China, and Iran. Iran can ally with pretty much any country in the Middle East, and Opec Nations. One Opec nation close to us is Venezula. Also Cuba could join in the fight. That be fighting half of the world. Like a World War III.

I agree, I wish the war had never started to begin with but I hope whoever's in office next will get them out of here, if the Koreans are planning to nuke us I would really rather stop them and let the iraqi people blow each other up, they have a handle of there own war, I don't agree with the 3 planes on 9-11 being nothing, but I think that was really blown out of porportion. all we had to do was highten security and be done with it, now we're the most hated country on earth, which is just wonderful i think (sarcasim) personally, I have a half brother in the war, I really would like to see him again so they better get him outta there, cause that'll be nothing compared to what I'll do to them if he doesn't come home, sorry got mad for a second.
God Bless the usa and the troops in iraq

Don't be such a pessimist, the US has plenty of air power to knock the N.Koreans into next month.
I can't imagine that our strategy would be to meet the N.Koreans on the field of battle. I believe we would spend a great deal of time softening up their ground forces and artillery. Naturally, the 30 thousand strong army the US has plus the 600,000 that S.Korea has, would hopefully be enough to restrain any ground assault from the north. In the meantime, the navy and air force would be busy knocking out any missile activity they might consider, plus destroying their potential for aerial combat.
If successful, the job of destroying their size able army would be next on the agenda. With a combination of daisy cutters, cluster bombs and intense below ground attacks, hopefully we could restrain these maniacs without the need for nuclear attack.

It would have been horrible to invade Iraq. I'm so glad we're in the process of liberating that country from a terrorist dictator. Screw the wmd talk. Right, never mind the fact that Iraq trained, harbored, financed and otherwise supported terrorism throughout my lifetime. We need to stay in Iraq for generations to keep that region in check and to continue on defeating terrorists at all costs. I can't think of a better way for the U.S. to spend my tax dollars. I'll never forget 9/11. I can't imagine any American forgetting that day. As for North Korea, all we need to do is park one of our 13 nuclear subs off their coast and threaten them with "real" nuclear power.

I agree with the person above who reminded you to consider our capabilities-which are largely unknown to the general public-, and forget the idea of a NK invasion here, that could (hehe) never happen. We have enough "stuff" to literally punch everybody at least twice!
Active warhead stock: ?...prolly in the thousands.
Aircraft fit and ready fast to carpet-bomb NK: ...prolly could arm and run 500+ a day-worldwide.
Largest and most powerful navy: Ours! There is enough within the pac-fleet alone to take care of China and NK.
Thinking of the battle itself is easy- We would kill them, but the cost is scary.
