This is a tough one, since I don't know where you are located. I will start with the easy stuff, and go on from there. Do you have large cats or possibly bears in the area? (By large cats, I mean perhaps a Bobcat or larger.) Raccoon activity can also alarm smaller dogs. Has anyplace in the immediate vicinity been tented for insects recently? Dogs have a very keen sense of smell. Perhaps it does not like the odor. Has the animal been threatened by a neighboring dog during a walk? That dog may be putting it's scent on your property. More information may help, but this list may give you something to go on as a start.

Dogs shouldn't be kept outside full stop. What IS the point in having one if it's kept outside. You might find its fireworks (it's that time of year again) and she is afraid of the noise. Either that or something else has spooked her, could have been a prowler or something. Keep her inside, it's cruel to leave them outdoors.

Something outside has scared her.

Isn't it wonderful that your dog has just become a teenager in their mind? It doesn't matter how old they are by years it matters now how much love you can give them that will make them know that you are its protector. Always reassure them that you are their protector and they will protect you. Make this date a milestone for your dog because it is truely a rite of passage,
