I am 27 and had a TAH in July because of fybroids, cysts and adenmyosis.
Although I love not having a period, if I had a choice to do it over, I wouldn't.
I have two children. One vaginal birth, one c-section, and neither could touch the pain of a hysterectomy. The recovery time is long, and there are lasting side effects that sometimes seem worse than a painful period.
Think long, and hard, about it before you make any decisions.

GET A SECOND OPINION!!!!!!!!!!!! an uterine rupture is a very serious thing and yes it can cause problems but it can also be treated without having to have a hysterectomy. I was 22 when had my daughter and also had a rupture then afterwards had severe bleeding and some problems, my doctor sent me to a specialist because of may age he didn't want to do surgery. At 27 I had my second child with no problems although it was considered a high risk pregnancy. Check around and find a specialist and go to them with your records and see what is what. Anxiety is caused from nerves not hormones. Sometimes it is true a hysterectomy has to be done I did have to have one at 29 when my son was born when the same thing happened again but by then I was finished having children and wasn't as upset about it. At 23 you are young and although chances are they would leave the ovaries you would still have issues to deal with from the surgery Good Luck to you.

Get a second opinion...
It is your body and you need to make an informed decision that is best for you and your family...
Because you are having second thoughts and concerns getting a second opinion may lay those concerns to rest...
While 23 is a young age to have to face the knowledge that you will no longer have the option of having another child, it is also a very young age to die of a preventable problem... Your child/children need you and if your uterus is damaged enough that a life threatening bleeding problem is occurring your best option is to have a hysterectomy...
Get the second opinion... It will help you make a much better informed decision....
Even a 3rd or 4th opinion if you feel the need for them, just don't allow yourself to continue searching for a Dr. who will say what you want to hear at the detriment of your health... There comes a time when you have to realize no matter how much you hope and pray for it the medical advise will not point in a different direction... You have to finally make the decision based on the information you don't like...

Your placenta, or your uterus? I've never heard of doing a hysterectomy because of a placental rupture but we do them all the time for uterine rupture. But yes, unfortunatly it is sad but sometimes these things happen. I've worked in surgury for four years and I still get emotional when I see a young woman come in who has to have a hysterectomy its a shame that you are so young. I take that back they will do an emergency c-section and hysterectomy during labor if a placenta ruptures but that is only during labor.

I truthfully have had an entire hysterectomy and now no longer simplest to i think intense high quality and have no periods any further, i became as quickly as revealed for artwork after 10 days, now no longer the organic 6 weeks. i'm 38. i think the attitude and age make a huge exchange even with the undeniable fact that of direction each and every person is remarkable.

I think that if your problem stemms from anxiety you should try to get that taken care of before electing to have surgery. If you feel you are too young for the procedure AND are already having extreme emotional reactions (such as severe anxiety) I'm afraid that going through with it before more careful consideration could really do a number on you emotionally.
If it's not medically important, give yourself some more time to decide where your comfort lies.

I also think it is too young.
But if that is what the doctors say then I would first get another opinion.
At least you already have a child.
A friend of mine just told me she had to have a c section and a hysterectomy too. Because of her placenta lying low and the risk of her to bleed out.

You're never too young. A very good friend of mine had many complications during the delivery of her twins. She was 20 years old and had to have a total hysterectomy. I'm so sorry this is happening to you. Good luck

You should get a 2nd opinion before letting them do this. Most doctors won't perform this surgery unless there is a life-threatening problem. I had placental abruption with my son, and my doctor never said anything about this.

With such a serious health problem, you should get another doctors' opinion. That way you can be sure it is the right decision with no regrets.
