You can feel empathetic...you can feel bad for her...yet you feel guilt? were you the cause of it or even a contributing factor? If not, you shouldn't feel "guilt".

Maybe you're thinking about a fight you had with her before she got in the car crash. Because if you're thinking in terms of that, then maybe you're thinking that it's possible that she was upset about something you had said and not focusing on the road as she should have been. If there wasn't a fight between the two of you, I don't see why you should feel guilty. Maybe you just feel as if you had been there, you could have done something to prevent her from getting in the car crash. But there may not even be a reason for you to feel guilty. I would just think about the fact that your sister's alive and going to be ok. You're being really hard on yourself--although I do that, too. I know exactly how you feel (guilty for no good reason, I mean).

Maybe because you weren't there to help her when it happened or maybe you knew she was going somewhere with someone certain that wasn't a very good driver, and now maybe you think you could have prevented it from happening

If you were there maybe you feel guilty because you thought about helping yourself and not her. Or maybe because she got hurt not you you.

whatever it is it's not your fault I hope your sister is alright.

Unless you were responsible for the accident you have nothing to feel guilty about. Even if you were responsible it was an accident, that is why they call them accidents.

Was it your fault? That would be a good reason.

If not, maybe you are just really upset and emotional right now and going through a lot of feelings.

It happens to many people, including me. I sometimes believe that if I could do something to stop it then, maybe the outcome would have been better.

Was it your car she was in? Did she drink at your house and then leave while drunk? Did you sabotage her car? Need a little more info...
