We're both in high school, he's a junior and i'm a sophmore. My best friend has a class with him, and apparantly he told her i was hot, sweet, funny etc., but later when she asked him if he would go out with me, he said he didn't want a gf right now. She says that doesn't mean he wouldn't date me in the future, but im not sure. What do you think? Im thinking maybe an old school, 'do you like me, check yes or no.'

You have your answer, you should wait and see.
If you push someone that has given you an answer even via a friend, its still an answer just the same.
Wait and see what time will tell you on this young man and make yourself seen as in be seen in public, when he goes outside, just dont become a stalker that means trouble.
He will get used to seeing you around and consider his answer a little more frequently and perhaps step up to the plate and ask you out. Just watch learn and listen.

Get to know him more. Find out...not bluntly of course, why he doesn't want a girlfriend. Maybe something happened and he's still recooperating or he just doesn't want one. Don't rush things! Get to know him better first if it was meant to be, things will just fall into place.

WELL, NEIGBORS IS TOUGH....TRY ASKING HIM TO A GAME...OR PLAY CATCH BALL BECAUSE YOU WANT TO PRACTICE PLAYING THAT GAME...OR GO TO A MOVIE...COME OVER FOR DINNER...OF COURSE ASK MOM....LOTS OF WAYS TO GET HIS EYE....TRY IT.
