A cop followed me for almost 2 miles while I was on my motorcycle, pushing me and then he turned his blue lights on.

Police can follow you all day within city limits, and most times if there riding your bumper trying to get you to speed. If you dint take the bait once your near a intersection they turnaround 90% of the time. If there following like a normal car just drive normal there probably off-duty, and there not looking for a ticket unless your going 5 over the limit or 10. They can follow you for 8 hours if they want, but if you have DWI plates on your car or truck police dont need no probadle cause in Minnesota to pull you over . The reason is you been convicted of drunk driving more than once, and driving is a privilage not a right.

He can pull you over anytime after you've made a violation. Once the Violation is made, he will usually radio in the lic plate number to check the vehicle status. If it's not safe to pull someone over right away (no shoulder available, etc..) he can wait until there a safe spot to turn on his blue light. They teach that in the police academy. You say the cop was "pushing" you-he was hitting your bike with his bumper? Doesn't sound like something a cop would do

maybe he did not intentionally follow you for that 2 miles and then you did something wrong. You did not List state. You did not list what the ticket was for. You did not list mechanical problems that you were having.<<<

First of all what do you mean by pushing you? Physically touching his car to your motorcycle while driving?

And a cop can follow you as long as they want pretty much as long as they are in their jusidiction.

heh i felt like a cop was "pushing" me down the highway once too... I thought there must be some kind of emergency so i sped up a little so i could get out of his way and he pulled me over...

the jerk seemed like he was less that TWO feet away from my car... he made me feel scared and nervous and had i tried to slow down he would have hit me. I can only immagine how frightenting that would be on a motorcycle.

They probably do this so they can run your tag.

We can follow you just like any other car can follow you. He was mostlikly waiting for you to commit a traffic violation because he proboly needed a reason to stop you.

We can follow you as long as we want, but we can only pull you over if you commit a violation inside our jurisdiction. In cases of suspected DUI.....we will see a violation typical of intox drivers in our jurisdiction, but continue to follow to observe your driving to build a stronger case. Hell, if you don't do anything in our town we can always call ahead to the next town and let em know you are coming their way :)

I guess they can follow you as far as they want. It has happened to me, and the cop said he pulled me over for not using my turn signal (that was still blinking). After checking my information he left and said to have a good night.
