On walls use ceramic tiles. Why?Easier to cut and trim.Invest in a decent tile cutter and tile nibblers too.
Now for buying. My usual course is to go look at the end of line ranges.A couple of tips. You do need to know how many tiles you will need and you will need to over buy BUT you can save an awfull lot of money.Find the tiles you want in the style you want.Go look in as many tile shops as you can including Topps etc. Then go to the end of the line range and see if and who has what you want.If you think you can get away with it tell the staff you would like so many boxes of the tile you want, add a box or so to allow for breakages, and ask them what thier best price would be.If you dont like it? Walk away or say you would like to think about it.Dont overplay it.Remember its possible that you could be buying high end tiles at virtually cost price.Well you could if you are lucky.
The other way to do it is to buy a lot of cheap tiles and some high quality ones. The high price ones disguise the cheap ones..
My usual choice is to try and over buy on end of the line ones.
Good luck.

Porcelain tiles will generally be the most expensive, however, for wet use areas they are the best.

Porcelain's main advantage over traditional ceramic tile is that it the most impervious materail for water. Like ceramic, it comes in a variety of sizes, shapes and colors.

Whichever you go for make sure that you drive a really hard bargain.............there is a phenomenal profit on tiles ( I was in bathroom/tile business for 25 years) & you would be absolutely amazed at the profit on tiles. I think that most porcelain tiles look better than ceramic although its personal choice & polished porcelain really does look trendy. Porcelain is much harder wearing although in a bathroom they wont get a lot of heavy traffic anyway, but porcelain tiles are used a lot in flash car showrooms so that just shows you the durability of them, but just remember that what might be trendy now probably wont be in a couple of years so regardless of what the tiles are made of choose something you like and suits the room/property

you can pick up tiles from 1p a tile in some places but ceramic are cheaper and just as nice but dont jump in shop around for value for money . i did my whole bathroom for less that 100 quid in plane white . its fresh clean and neutral but the gold edge trim make it look a lot more expencive. personally colour tiles arent a good idea if you chage youre accessories often where as white goes with anything .B&Q do a nice range of dimples white and some water mark white. so choose carful once there up there hard to remove as the wall behind would need a skim coat to cover the old adhesive .. if some colour is needed tile tranfers are easy to remove and replaceand way cheaper than replacing colour tiles to suit .but seriousley shop around with your wall sizes and get quotes before you buy .

Go for Ceramic for the walls as they are cheaper. But I'd go for Porcelin on the floor as they are more hardwearing. It's worth paying a little extra for your floor tiles as they will take more of a hammering from foot traffic than your wall tiles - unless you're into climbing the walls.....

porcelian is the most durable 20% harder than granite. ceramic is fine also. these tiles are rated for 3000 plus foot trafic. you dont need a porcelian. just pick the product that appeals to your eye. the mid range cost of a tile is $3.00

I had a washing room in a condo as quickly as that had peach paint. i did not think of I cherished it. I positioned some mirrors on one wall so as that there become much less of it and then had a exceptional form of plant life and grew to like it. White is astonishing with peach and many lush foliage.
