I have been seeing alot of different things to do with ADHD on Yahoo! Answers, and I am wondering your opinion on this topic. Many people here have said that they think ADHD is just a personality trait. I am wondering what people think about that.

Personally, I have ADHD, and I wonder how people can blatently ignore scientific facts. That could be a nice trait to have, but in the meantime what do you think?

I too have ADHD and trust me I am sure you know it isn't just a personality trait. Who in their right mind would want to have racing thoughts with the inability to be organized or remember even simple things like where the keys are.I was relieved to find out I could do something about it. I spent many years in denial and untreated and lost jobs, ect because of my ADHD

Hey there,

You should look up this guy named Thom Hartmann.. He is an expert on ADHD and really is able to put it in a positive way.

His idea is that ADHD has gotten the human race where it is today, hunters are naturally scanning the environment, easily distracted (becuase of possible danger) and that there is a Farmer like trait and that has helped us the last few hundred years.

Basically we are in a farmers world and its hard for the hunters to adapt.

Nothing should be far out. ADHD may be linked with the definition "Type A Personality." These people are usually overachievers and frequently referred to as "hyper." If the ADHD hampers day-to-day functioning, then it isn't a good thing. Moderation in all things . . .

Nowadays they make cure-all pills for everything. Our country is over-medicated. My 16 yr old has the supposed symptoms of this ailment for his whole life. I have never and will never medicate him. I too have a touch of (so called)"attention defecit". I have never taken medication either...the older you get ....the more managable it is.

It is a real problem. Those who have not had, or known someone with a disease may scoff if they like.
You might try magnets (see reference below) or Pycnogenol (see reference)
Good luck!
