Don't groan, I'm on your team (I wasn't always)

Question:

What form of deity or spiritual being could you reasonably postulate that would be consistent with scientific knowledge as it stands now?

Thoughts:

If your deity is one that buries dinosaur bones on the sixth day and fakes gravitational lensing on the day the telescopes are out, then I say you violate "reasonable".

We're not thinking "logically possible" here. Nearly anything is logically possible. I'm looking for something that's a bit closer to your everyday sort of plausability.

Doesn't have to be any type of god that already "exists" in culture anywhere, but it can be if you like.

Just asking cos I'm interested in the idea, that's all. Thanks!

The only idea that makes any modicum of sense is one that is similar to the Deist idea. A creator or creators who established the beginnings of the universe, set up mechanisms for advancement while leaving room for necessary chaos, and then left forever.

It's funny that people can believe that intelligence can evolve. Then over a longer peiod of time who is to say a super intelligence didn't evolve? I am a believer but have to say in a scientific sense I would have more respect for an agnostic position than atheistic. Atheists know no can dipsorve God's existance and yet are sure there isn't a God. Or so they claim. They only have access to limited information and have yet act as though there is no God is a proven fact. They offer many reasons why they don't believe there is a God many of them because they don't agree with the way things have been managed. I can understand why they may think these things but still don't see that as proof of anything. If God exists would he have to do things the way we think he should, and if some things don't seem to make sense to we scrap the whole notion? I think there findings ae premature. I am not claiming to bea scientist but do think there is some evidence (not proof) to suggest the existance of God.

We always want a beginning and an end- it's the way us humans think, or something to worship or something to blame for the creation of this world, us and the universe.

How did it all start? What was before the dinos? If we could think outside of this we may understand better. I must say that i think time is interesting. The fourth dimension - getting there if we travel faster than the speed of light(supposedly) and the passing of time which i thought was a man made thing with clocks and watches- but then we age and we can see this, so time seems significant. Looking at time may tell us where we came from and where we are going.

This question cannot be answered with anything less than pure speculation. There is no evidence or testable experiment, short of dying, to determine if there is a God, hell, and heaven. Science does not postulate a God because there is no evidence beyond mass delusions.

I don't agree that anything is logically possible. I do think that nothing is impossible. Some things are very unlikely to occur, but this is not the same as impossible.

There can be no spiritual being that makes sense. Spiritual beings are just fictional characters concocted by humans to "answer" various complicated questions. If humans were indeed created by some powerful being, then this being is not spiritual, simply more powerful (and more intelligent) than we are. I don't subscribe to the idea of creationism myself because I can never find a good reason why any being would want to create us in the first place.

each little thing in this universe had a commencing up, so as that's all we are able to information. in accordance to all of the standard rules of physics, etc., each ingredient , each action, could desire to have had a reason. although, God isn't a "area" of this universe. he's the only that created it. the place is he from? we do not know, what else is there besides him? we do not know. How is it a threat he could have consistently existed? we do not know. God isn't from this actual universe and he's subsequently not sure by utilising its actual rules (such because of the fact the regulation that demands each action to have an equivalent and opposite reaction, etc.) God isn't actual, he's religious. That fact top there could desire to be adequate to stop any style of argument from any atheistic scientist, because of the fact how can a guy or woman scientifically define a spirit being??? it can not be executed, it quite is not a factor of this universe, we've not got any concept for it, we've no physique of reference, we've no technology for that. the human beings here who're arguing that "if God did not opt for a commencing up then the universe did not opt for a commencing up" that fact is going against all of the guidelines in this universe and you recognize it. quite the ordinary information of God is that there must be a common reason for something and each little thing that has ever got here approximately in this universe. yet outdoors of this universe? we do not know, and we don't could desire to nicely known. we've been given each little thing we are able to ever could desire to stay a happy and finished existence in this universe so huge and sophisticated that shall we spend an eternity exploring it and not see all of it.

I would say try exploring Zen Buddhism. There are other disciplines like Tantra as well but leave that for later. Buy a good book about Zen for beginners and you might find some questions answered.

the only god that I think exists is the one that people believe in. It's their belief that makes it real and gives power to it, the idea of it. A god in the form of a higher being is unlikely to be explained or discovered by science.

Here's my theory. The religious establishments of the world are wrong. If there is a creator, he/she/it is (a) completely wacky and (b) so far beyond our range of comprehension that he/she/it is not worth speculating about. So either way, the only thing to do is get on with your regularly scheduled broadcast and stop stressing so much.
