Oh my god! Do not listen to the guy about choking on your tongue. Old wives tale. My husband is epileptic and I have worked with many over the years... If you have a seizure in a dangerous place ie. pool, traffic, driving etc. yes it can be deadly. As far as I have been told by many neurologists epilepsy itself is not fatal. over the years it can make you very tired both from seizures and the meds, and my husband became a little forgetful at times.... he had brain surgery and fortunately for him has not had a seizure since and is no longer taking meds. Keep your head up it can be tough, but there's hope. And don't listen to idiots who have no idea... can be very dangerous!

it is N*O*T physiological to choke on your tounge!!! And yes you can die of epilepsy, not just having a seizure in a dangerous place (under water, while driving, etc) hasn't any one ever heard of status epliepticus? its a condition where your body is either having multiple seizures all in a row or ones lasting longer than 10 minutes. a seizure is like blowing a fuse in your brain, it does damage and when it cannot be stopped, your body just quits and you die. the scariest is having a seizure in your sleep because 9 times out of 10 you sufficate and die. remember flo-jo? thats how she died.

Sorry people..but you cannot choke on your tongue..it is an attached muscle..I have epilepsy..what can happen is you can bite on it so hard that you can bite the end off...or when you are having a seizure you can vomit and it can go into your lungs and that is what can be of harm to you.

Yes, an attack can either, aggravate the heart, which can interrupt breathing, which can lead to death.
Or you can choke on tongue during an attack.
BOTH of this cases are very rare, as nowadays with modern medicine, and doctors on hand.

yes, I'm afraid so. A person can have a nasty fit, injure themselves, drown in the bath, choke on the their tongue or vomit.
