I am American and my fiance is British. I'm planning on moving to the UK after the wedding, so I was thinking of having the wedding in the United States. But he really wants to be married in England. Thing is my family is much bigger than his, so it would be harder to have everyone come over from the US to England.

Ah! Help! Any thoughts?

I really think the woman's feelings matter most when it comes to wedding planning. And, you're giving up your home to be with him, so he ought to give on this point.

The good news is that now is the time to find out if you're marrying someone who understands the constant negotiation that is a marriage.

With the way the dollar and the pound are right now, it's much cheaper for people from the UK to visit the US. The dollar doesn't go very far in the UK anymore. So if your family is bigger it would be much cheaper for his family to come to the US. Good Luck.

PS - This is not just your day, as I'm sure you know, it's his day too, however, it will cost your family alot more than his to go to the other country. This is a purely financial reason.

Wedding should always be bride's hometown, and you wanted this way because you are going to be doing most of the planning so you want the wedding to be somewhere, where you know where everything is, best places to cater, flower etc. Plus women do most of the work for the wedding, image trying to plan a wedding form US that is taking place in England.

Could you have two weddings?
Have one in the USA, and it can be a little bigger, maybe, because more of your family is in the US, and then have a second sort of ceremony in the UK, so that she can have her ideal wedding too.

congrats and good luck!

Okay its YOUR wedding, everyone knows the wedding is for the BRIDE so who cares what he wants, its what you want. Believe be just tell your fiance you want it here, he will understand, or at least he better. The wedding is always for the Bride, not really the groom. They usually just show up.
