Sorry to say it, but your mother is wrong. Shaving and waxing do not make hair grow back thicker. Shaving is simply cutting the hair at the skin. Cutting the hair on your head doesn't make it thicker, does it? Waxing actually does make the hair come back finer in some people. After the hair is repeatedly pulled out at the root, it tends to come back weaker and thinner. If you bleach it, the hair will still be there, you will still feel it, and it will be seen in the light. If you are against the idea of shaving and waxing, depilatories (Like Nair) are a good, although smelly, alternative. Get one that's formulated for your facial hair. It comes with a little brush that makes application easy, and you can use it to shape your eyebrows as well. One container of depilatory will cost a few dollars and will last for a long time.

The only way to permanently eliminate unwanted hair is a process called electrolysis. Electrolysis is performed by inserting a tiny needle into the hair follicle and using an electric current to kill the hair root. Electrolysis can be expensive, painful, and even time consuming: Removing upper lip hair may take a total of 4 to 10 hours over several visits.

In some cases, electrolysis can cause dry skin, scabs, scarring, and swelling. If you decide to try it, it's best to have the procedure done at a dermatologist's or other doctor's office to make sure it's done properly and safely.

Ways to remove hair semi-permanently include laser hair removal, which is also expensive and can lead to swelling and irritation. A doctor or dermatologist may be able to prescribe a cream that can help remove unwanted hair. Talk to your doctor or visit the American Academy of Dermatology's website to find a dermatologist in your area.

Laser Hair Removal!! The only way to go and it is permanent. You can get packages that are cheap. You do several rounds of treatments, but if you get a package it is all covered. I went and got it done and it was $99 for upper lip, great deal for all the treatments and it came with a 2 year guarantee. I am hair free and no worries anymore. Try it, it is worth the little bit of pain for permanent hair loss where you don't want it.

WAXING OR THREADING.

Don't Shave it!! Shaving only trims the hair so when it grows back its going to look very picky and gross.

Waxing- it causes the hair to be pulled out and lasts about a month. It doesn't hurt that bad as people may think.

Plucking-A lot of work to get every individual hair so you might as well wax.

Threading- If you absoulutly do not like waxing, you can ask a salon/beauty spa if they provide threading. Its when they use a string to pull out a few hairs at a time. I've had it done and it doesn't hurt, just little pinches.

Hope this helps! : )

Wax it off. Sally Hansen has a bunch of at home waxing kits. Very easy, affordable and not so painful once you get used to it. Also lessens the growth of hair.

My friend uses a cold wax by Sally Hansen. It washes off with water so its not sticky and the hair comes off good. Everyone reccomends it at the salons.

If you want to invest the time and money I'd say go for electolysis. I did it 11 years ago and haven't had to worry about it since. Or perhaps laser. I $ is short then waxing is your best option.
