Personally, I had my belly button pierced in order to get over my ENORMOUS fear of needles and I would say it wasn't that bad. In fact, having the needle taken out and the jewelry inserted pinched more than the actual piercing of skin. It does depend on your own pain threshold, however, but if you relax, ask questions, and really think about it, you'll be in good shape. Even if it does hurt, it'll go away and you'll be left with something really cool. Just make sure to take care of it!

They both hurt. It all depends though on how your own body responds to pain which is why you get half the people here saying yes and half saying no.

My belly button didn't hurt too much, only for a second. Then I got my tongue pierced, and that didn;t hurt at all. My ears made me turn blue and pass out. There is no way to know how it will affect you until it is done. Your ear will hurt more than your belly button probably though.

How much will it hurt? It will probably make you wonder why you paid money to have it done, it might make you pass out, it make you feel dizzy or sick. After it is done you will need to turn the belly button ring to keep the hole open. That hurts too. If you are queesy don;t do it. An infection can get pretty yucky.

I have the upper ear done twice and side of my ear done once...you want to make sure you are not allergic to what they will be using (stud) because it can get very infected (when this type of piercing first came about only gold was allowed, I'm allergic to gold and didn't not know it at the time, and my ear became very infected)...as for pain, it felt like any other ear piercing and I have my ears done a total of 7 times

take it from me, and i mean it , i'm 12 years old and got my cartilidge peirced and it does not hurt unless you are one of the really sensative people and i'm talkin oh i gotta bruse call the ambulence lol no i'm not one of those people, and it really doesn't hust if you got your ear peirced on the bottom it is the same feeling but it tingles and stings for the first few hours then it doesn't hurt unless you touch it ,so for the first few weeks keep your hair in a pony tail and good luck, i really can't help about your belly button so good luck!

Upper cartilage hurts a lot more because there's less cartilage and belly button hurts too, basically they both cause infections but could be cute...

The piercing itself if pretty quick if done right so it only hurts for a second. Afterward the cartilidge one tends to be sore a little longer than the navel but if you care for it right it shopuld only be sore for a few days.

they both hurt. i got my upper cartilege done when i was 16 my first time and just got 2 more cartilege piercings last thursday and got my navel pierced in june. lol

they hurt. take the cartilege and pinch it REALLY hard then add some burning, thats what it will feel like. tyour cartilge will stay sore for a few days. mine are still really sore. and it will be hard to sleep (when/if you sleep on your sides) if you are gettign your cartilege done PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE go to a professional shop where they use needles. do not go to the mall and get it done with a piercing gun! they are not sanitray, ect.
so get it done with a needle. before you go and get pierced make sure you "do you homeowrk: and research the shop, make sure they are sanitary and use new needles everytime, ect.

as for the navel piercings you have to be 18 to get them. i would wait till i was 17 if i were you if your parents allow it cause you are still growing and your body may change as well as the jewelry. navel piercings are risky. mine hurt. i even piad 5$ to get numbing cream lol.. and still felt a really big pinch. you navel hurts for a week afterwards. and you really need to keep uo with the cleaning instructions! rinsing it with piercing aftercare solution and do 1 sea salt soak for 15 minutes a day. you will also need to do this for your cartilege piercings too. the studio shoudl go into detail abotu how you should clean your piercings (ifnot you can always email me at mashly0624@yahoo.com) doing these regimes everyday will speed up the healing and decrease the risk of infection. if you get your navel done you will not be able to wear tight shirts because it can cause the jewelry to snag, or migrate, which is when the jewelry changes differnt position, say you get it pierced straight and then after its healed its crooked.

navel piercings typically take 4 months to heal, but is not unusual fo them to take up to a year.

cartilege piercings take 2 to 4 months to fully heal.

good lcuk, but remember the pain is always temporary! im terrified of needles but i still go through with it. pain shoudl not be the decinding factor if you really want these piercings.

another thing to look out for is when having a new piercing is called a keloid whichis an over growth of scar tissue

those pictures show them pretty big. i had one on my first cartilge piercing but it went away after my hair stylist practically ripped out my jewelry after getting it stuck tot he comb! ouch! thast another thing. you shoudl not get your hair cut if you get a cartilege piercing for the first month or so. since it is still healing and you dont want any mishaps to happen lol

here are aftercar instuctions

It hurts but it's not the worst thing in the world. The pain goes away eventually. Good Luck!

yeah, it does hurt. but the pain goes away soon, and as long as you keep the piercing clean, it won't get infected. it hurts more than the normal ear piercings.
