Split pea soup!

1 pkg. dried split peas
1-2 ham hocks
1 red onion, chopped
1-2 Tbsp. minced garlic
1 handful of baby carrots, sliced
1/3 bunch of celery, chopped
3-4 bay leaves
1 potato, finely chopped
A pinch of marjoram

Put it all in the crockpot, 6 cups of water, cover, turn on high, and walk away!

In fact, I should make that again tomorrow. :)

Pot roast is definately the best thing to come out of a crock pot.

Brown the chuck roast (you don't have to, but it's better). I have a crock pot that I can put right on the stove so I don't have to dirty an extra pan. If you use a separate pan to brown the meat, remove the meat to the crock pot.

Add a large onion cut in quarters, a couple of large stalks of celery cut in big pieces and a few baby carrots to the browning pan. Brown them a little bit and add them to the pot roast. Again, you don't have to brown the veggies either but it's better. The dish will be good without browning, just not as good, depends on how much time and effort you have.

Add a carton of beef stock to the crock pot til it's almost to the top of the roast. Cook until it's done. I cook it on high if I'm in a hurry or low if I'm gone all day. Start it in the morning, it's good to eat when you get home from work. It should cook at least six hours.

You can make a thick gravy or serve the juice just the way it is. You might have to add some boullion to make it taste good. This recipe is also good with beef cubes (stew meat) you just don't have to cook it as long.

I serve the roast with potatoes and carrots, you can add them to the crock pot close to the end or cook them separate.

Beef stew--I just chuck a bunch of stew meat into a pot, cover it with water, some stock, and some tomato juice/sauce, and cook it for a couple hours. Then add whatever veggies you want (carrots, celery, potatoes, green beans, etc.) Cook until the meat is tender and the veggies are done. I usually season the meat with onion and garlic while it is cooking on its own.

Chili is also really good in the slow cooker--use your favorite recipe.

Beef and Noodles! Yummmmmmy.

Get a roast, preferred rump roast with some good fat on it. Put it in the slow cooker, season with lots of salt and soem pepper, just cover the meat with water. Let it cook on low alllllllll day long, I usually let it cook for about 8 hrs, then just take a fork and break up all of the meat, will fall right apart. Taste the broth to make sure it's good enough, definately add salt and pepper and some beef cubes if it needs some more spunk to it. I make my own noodles but you can buy the bags of frozen noodles and just toss them in. Usually about 2 bags will do it. Let that cook together on low until the noodles are just right. Served with mashed potatoes, green beans, bread and butter and you won't be sorry.

Another roast recipe, use the same type of roast, rump with good fat, cut some potatoes in quarters, throw in some baby carrots, a couple of quartered onions, cover with water and let cook on low for about 8 hrs. Usually the broth is good enough with the rump roast to make some good gravy also. Transfer broth to a pot, add some milk, a little bit of butter, bring to a boil, turn down to low, use some corn starch to thicken and there ya have some awesome gravy.

Cook a whole chicken with 50 whole -un-peeled- cloves of garlic on slow. When finished, sqeeze the garlic pure out of the clove and serve on the side. Delicious.

Remember, salt and pepper to taste and add liquid as per the instuctions in your crock pot -about 1/2 to 1 cup of water.

I'm kinda lazy sometimes, so what I like to do is take some vegetable bullion and add a bag of mixed vegetables and let it simmer in the Crock Pot for a very nice soup.

BBQ spareribs, hands down! Just put them in the crock pot with a bottle of your favorite BBQ sauce and set it for 6-8 hours. You'll never need a knife with this recipe!
