first you need to see if you can even get tattooed over the scars. if they are raised and very prominent it might be impossible - scar tissue is tough and unpredictable sometimes, and if you tattoo it, it could result in worse scarring or the tattoo healing blurred and distorted. with that in mind, words might be impossible to get tattooed over your scar -- anything with fine lines could blow out or 'bleed', meaning the ink will spread out and look thicker and weird. once you are EIGHTEEN, go to a tattoo shop and see if your wrist can even be tattooed over. BTW, waiting till you're 18 will give the scar tissue on your wrist a chance to heal and become less noticable - make sure to use cocoa butter or mederma and massage it into your wrist every day to help break down the scar and make it less prominent (it will help increase the chance that a tattoo will heal correctly on top of it) Also in the next two years, think about what is meaningful in your life and you'll be able to decide what to get tattooed on you instead of asking strangers on the internet. It sounds like you've been through a lot -- what helped you get through it? any particular song, religious quote, ? It seems like this is something personal only you can think of.

I would only get a tattoo if you want one in the first place, the person who said that scars fade is right- tattooing over it will only draw more attention to that spot. If that is okay with you, or part of your healing process, then go for it. Remember that this tattoo will not fade, and you will have it for the rest of your life, so choose wisley grasshopper...
What are some of the things that bring you joy-if you like flowers, a carnivorous plant could be an idea.- are you looking for a symbol or an actual picture of something? I know kanji (Japanese script) are popular, and are loaded with meaning, you could also look for a book on symbology, but make sure it signifies what you want.
Make sure you research your artist well- don't just go to whoever is available when you walk in (unless you like their work)
You could also go to a tattoo shop and look through some of their books- ususally they have quite a collection.
Whatever you choose, I hope it brings you the comfort you seek.

I don't think that's a good idea. Scars fade. Use Mederma or another cream. If you have scar tissue, any 'good' tattoo artist will not tat over it.
Also, career-wise, having an exposed tattoo is not a great idea...the wrist is going to be hard to cover up.
If you're set on covering it up for now with something inspiring, cover it with a bracelet/leather wrist-band-thingy or whatever. At least you can remove it later in life...
Ok, one more thing: You really shouldn't look at your scar as such a horrible reminder. You should think of it as feat that you've overcome. A reminder of how you've grow...how much you've accomplished...Pain is part of life, it our ability to endure that makes us successful.

Try a watch or some bracelets while it heals a bit more, also rub in vitamin e cream, sorry but tattoos don't really cover up scars very well. They can actually accentuate them depending on the size and severity of the scar.
Glad you are doing better though.

Use "Stick-ons", You can change them when you wish.
Tattoo's are forever. If you try to remove them, you will
be right back to a bigger scar.
As has been said, if its in a position to be covered by a bracelet or watch, I'm sure you have thought of this,
so I assume the scar/scars are higher up on the arm.
Get help, as this can lead to a lot more "Cuts".I've seen
an arm with Slits half way up to the elbow. Not Pretty.

i dont have an idea bcause i'd never get a tatoo because i have heard that you could get some rash that could end up killing you. i've also heard that the red ink hurts the most, so if you do end up getting a tatoo i'd pick something that didn't have a lot of red unless you can take pain REALLY well! you could go for a dove or something! but personally i would think of something else to cover it up with. my cousin got a tatoo and she ended up in the hospital, what happened to her is beyond me. but its ur choice! good luck!

Tattooing over a scar is extremely difficult but you could always incorporate it in with some tribally/symbols or flower theme wristband. email me a pic i can work on a design for you

Go to a tattoo artist and ask for some ideas. A reputable artist will be glad to help you find something that is pleasing to the eye and that will signify all you desire.
