It is not the religion that we are at war with. We are at war with fanatics who are hiding behind a religion, much like a Tele-Evangelist hides behind christianity for monetary gain. The religion of Islam has roots as far back as Christianity and the Old Testament is followed by Islam, Judaism and Christianity.
What are your thoughts on this?
So, What do we need to do to make Christians realize that we are not at war with a religion, and that Islam is not the "evil enemy" it is the fanatics that hide behind their beliefs!

Actually, it is a religious war. Americans generally do not realize this. The "fanatics" who have "hijacked" a "religion of peace," are actually the true believers.
They are acting out their faith in practical ways. For them, it is the desire to impose a Caliphate upon the entire world. If the infidels resist, they will put them to the sword, just as Mohammad did.
While we don't think of the war in religious terms, the "fanatics" do. They always use the term "America is fighting Islam." But it is really the other way around.

Christians, like most other people in America are ignorant of the ways and means of other religions and peoples who are not Americans. Nothing exists but their narrow opinions of religions, other peoples, the world in general except their own lives. This has been happening in this country since the time of the British. Nothing changes. Intelligent people who only make up less than 1 per cent of the population in the United States are not thought well enough to comment on the common man's lifestyle, because the common man thinks that intelligent people are all rich and run the country to suit their own needs. I hope this answers your question somewhat? In my opinion.

I generally agree with your statement, but the apparent silence from moderate Muslims makes them somewhat complicit in the attacks of extremists, don't you think?
Sure, a few high-profile figureheads condemn such targeting of innocent people, but where is the widespread condemnation of extremist Muslim militants using children as shields and blowing up restaurants and buses?
Until the streets are filled with Muslims protesting the extremist elements portraying their religion as a violent, intolerant mindset, this will continue to be seen as a war with Islam.

We are at war with the islamic religion. And here is why: They say that we should have tolerance for islam, because we are a tolerant people, But if they were in power they would say: We will not tolerate your religion, because we persecute error. They do not seem to want us to know this about them.

I think this question is also interesting from the other side. Don't muslims realize that we are not at war with Islam?
I think that the answer to both questions is partially no. Unfortunately that fact will lead to more violence.

The problem is...despite what organizations like the Council on American-Islamic Relations might say and want everyone to believe...Islam is at war with anything and everything that is not Islamic and has been since its very inception. 1300 years of warfare speak volumes.

I totally agree, Christians and Muslims lived together for so many years and they were doing fine, then suddenly all the hate in the world came out just after 9/11 which was done by a group of people who call themselves Muslims and changed people's opinion on Islam forever.

Who told you that Americans were at war with Islam? What is the basis for that statement? You sound like a fanatic yourself for spreading misinformation.

I've said this a dozen times. Christians are blamed for abortion clinic bombers and abortion doctor shootings. We have to crack down on those types all the time, or WE get tainted with their paintbrush. When's the last time Islamic clerics spent time seperating themselves from the terrorists, especially in the Middle East.
If it walks like a duck...

Don't Americans realize that we are not at war with the Islamic religion?
America is Definitely NOT at war with islam.
But
islam is definitely AT WAR WITH AMERICA!
The Verse Of The Sword from Al-Tawbah
Fight and slay the pagans (infidels) wherever ye find them, and seize them,
beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem of war." - Sura 9:5
"Prophet, make war on unbelievers and hypocrites, and deal rigorously
with them." - Sura 9:73
"Let not the unbelievers think they will ever get away. They have not
the power to do so. Muster against them all the men and cavalry at
your command, so that you may strike terror into the enemy of Allah
and your enemy... Prophet, (Muhammed) rouse the faithful to arms!
If they (the non-Muslims) incline to peace (accept Islam) make
peace with them." - Sura 8:59
"If they reject your judgement, know that it is Allah's wish to scourge
them for their sins." - Sura 5:49
"Believers (Muslims), take neither Jews nor Christians to be your
friends: they are friends with one another.
Whoever of you seeks their friendship shall become one of their number,
and God does not guide (those Jewish and Christian) wrong-doers." - Sura 5:51
