My friends had a male pure wolf, and it got along fine with their male miniature schnauzer and female toy poodle.and several cats...BUT, it couldn't get along with the male German Shepherd, at all..Neither were neutered..

Well, from my experience with a wolf hybrid, they are very strong animals! I've only had the pleasure of raising the runt-of-the-litter, but he turned out to be a handful. He was a bit nippy towards our cats, but he was still young, and quickly learned they can be a handful. From what I know about wolves, and wolf hybrids, they are very big. Not as big as a great dane, of course, but big enough to challenge you for dominance; so you will have to keep an eye on both of your animals. In my own experience, from the male wolfdog that I had, he was rather pushy, but he would be very loyal none the less, and I'm sure that if you start off young with both dogs, and teach them to get along; and show them who's boss, then they'd be great. But ask around some more, other people have different stories than mine! Hope it helps none the less!

As far as dominance issues are concerned, just make sure that you are prescribing to a regular routine that proves one dog's dominance over the other. For example, when you take them out and are giving them treats afterwards, consistently give one dog their treat before the other. This helps to support an infrastructure between the dogs.

Other than that, just keep your eye on the wolf hybrid. If you begin to see signs of aggression towards your dachshund you should consult a trainer... I would actually recommend that you consult one anyhow. There are lots of ways to train even aggressive dogs into being loving pets.

PS: Yay for you for taking care of an abused animal. It is a tough road, but a rewarding one.

Same sex aggression could be a comming problem in your future.
I would recommed that both of these dogs be spayed and have it done about 5 months old on each dog.
This can help with the aggression. They tend to get more assertive and aggressive as they start to get sexually mature. If you spay before then it may calm that down some.
There are times when two females will fight worse than two males will.
You are going to have to be the top dog in te house hold and stick to a very good training program if you want peace in your home.
Good luck.

First you need to be sure its legal to have one in your area, some areas do not allow them or require a special permit.

That said, a friend of mine has a neighbor with a wolf hybrid, and she gets along great with all of the dogs in the neighborhood (mini schnauzer, lab/rott, lab, and besenji) A lot of it is nurture, not nature.

If you properly train and raise the dog, it should be fine.

Some people think they are the most wonderful things in the world - then go on to say "but don't look him in the eye, he will take it as a challenge" - so what was so great about this mix? The stories that make the news seem more on the lines of "wild animal" behavior not the just went nuts and ate the toddler behavior from some pit bulls. You will probably get warning signs as the pup grows and will deal with them in advance.
