that's a hypersensitivity. you might want to be on the lookout for other behaviours that can cue you onto a disorder.

Try bigger sized socks in the meantime.

OMG YES!!!! I dont have a 5 year old any more, she's 18, but I certainly remember the fights about socks and she still has got to have her socks on a certain way (cant say what way that is b/c i have no idea). she wanted them inside out..something about the seams i think. we had so many disrupted mornings b4 school i thought something was wrong with her. i took her to a child physcologist and they said "let her dress the way she wants, socks or no socks". i was hesitant, but did what they said and believe it or not, eventually it worked! we still look back at old photos with crazy clothing and laugh. so my advise to you is, dont worry so much about the little stuff. dont make her wear them if she doesnt want to. if her feet get sore, let her know that if she wears socks they wont hurt. GOOD LUCK

I would check to make shoes size is right and that their toenails are clipped and they don't have any hang nails or something that the sock could be catching on. I know my daughter just hates wearing socks she takes them off as soon as we walk in the door. So I only make her wear them when we go out other than that she has slippers she wears around the house on cold days.

I never did have that kind of trouble, but if your kid refuses to wear socks because he is hurt buy him fuzzy comfortable socks and tell him they wont hurt his feet. He should wear those socks and if he still rufuses it must be a different reason he wont wear socks.

Since you did not mention any other problems (like Autism Spectrum Disorders -- where the "feel" of certain types of clothing bother the children), then this is just a matter of taking the child along on the shopping trip, and letting them EXPERIENCE the FEEL of different types of socks -- and helping them put them on straight each morning before school.

No, but my 8 yr old does have to have his socks put on completely straight and even or else it bothers him.
Ive actually been interested into looking for seamless socks, which are probably more comfortable. Also, girls socks or dress socks are thinner, not as bulky as your common athletic sock.

Not my kids, but my best friend. She hates socks, but she does wear them, but she wears them inside out and has alot that are either seamles or toe socks.

i imagine calling the healthcare professional about "sensory subject matters " is a touch severe. she is a woman. She is at a time the position making her personal judgements is important to her. you're accurate in doing it the nighttime before. it's going to make issues a lot less complicated. flow by ability of her clothing and her try all of them on. Have her inform you which of them ones are comfy and which ones are not. you do not ought to throw out the un-comfy ones, in basic terms positioned one or 2 decrease back into her closet at a time. She probable received't even be conscious. tell her she has 5 minutes each and every nighttime to %. out her clothing for the subsequent day and set a timer. if she doesn't have them chosen, you %. for her, end of tale. she will be ready to no longer want you choosing so understanding that element is of the essence will hopefully get her to decide on her clothing particularly a lot less.....stressfully. My niece is 6 and her mom says that each and every morning replaced right into a conflict, until eventually she informed her daughter she might want to positioned on her brothers clothing if she did no longer have any of her personal to positioned on. She hasn't complained when you consider that she replaced into informed that.

perhaps the shoes are the problem and the socks just make the shoes feel tighter. Maybe you just need to go up a size.
