Good heavens - why? Do you want your hair to fall out? It's different for everyone, depending on the condition of your hair when you first start coloring it. And while coloring it gives body and shine when you first start using it, it will eventually turn your hair dull and dry. Giving it a rest from the dye for a few months in between applications will help. I have friends who have been dyeing their hair forever, and it looks ghastly - what's left of it. You can see their scalp already. Then they tell me that they wish that they had hair like mine. Go figure!

If you dye your hair and the roots begin to show and it needs a touch up..then you should put the dye on the roots and wait the right amount of time before adding it to the rest of the hair or else your hair will become coated with dye a buildup and that will cause breakage....It's so important for anyone who uses these products to know what they are doing before using them to prevent hair loss.

It doesnt fall out it breaks off from consistent over coloring or bleaching. Chemical treatments can damage the hair strands but can't affect the follicle.

I've been colouring mine for fifteen years and it still hasn't fallen out (knock on wood). I've used Nice N Easy (too hard on hair), then Preference by L'Oreal (easier on hair). Natural colourings like from the Body Shop just doesn't colour my hair enough but they're easiest on the hair.

Coloring can indeed affect the follicle. When coloring agents combine with sebum and beging building up inside the follicle, the papillary matrix can be damged, contributing to hair loss and other hair problems.

How many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie roll pop?
Seriously, If you take care of your hair regularly you shouldn't have much of a breakage problem. Although there is the chance of limp, lifeless hair.
