Can't afford to donate to a lot of charities. I donate to the RSPCA tho.

Because most charities use most of the money they recieve to advertise and promote the charity and only a small poriton actually goes to the cause. Seems like a major conflict. If I give to a charity I want to know that every penny is going to help someone in need and not paying for the directors lavish life style. That said you can donate time and or items to charities in lieu of money - which is more in my line of giving anyway.

I do give money to charity. I give to my church, St. Jude's Children's hospital, and whenever anyone in town is raising money for a good cause I donate. I generally only donate to local charities, but if I do want to donate to a national charity, I go to www.charitynavigator.com to check them out to see how much of my money actually goes to their cause and how much go to administrative costs. If the majority of money doesn't go to the cause, they don't get any from me.

I have my one or two that I give to each year... But right now I'm still in my parents house as I'm not working currently and I couldn't afford a cardboard box to live in. That's why. Maybe if I'm ever financially secure enough to afford it then I will give more.
Too many people right now are not making a living wage, unemployed, losing health care and other benefits, etc. while dealing with the rising costs of everything. We are not living in a time right now that gives people the security they need to feel they can afford to donate a lot.
Meanwhile I am broke...feel free to make me your charity.

How do you know that I don't? Hmmm?
How much do YOU give to charity?
I am giving more this year than I did last year. How about you?
I am also particular about which charities get my money.

Your question shows your ignorance. Charities only exist on the contributions of others. The fact that there are so many charities proves there are a lot of generous supporters.

I don't give money to charity (except to St. Jude's). I give food to the food bank and buy things for the battered women's shelter. I also collect things for the shelter.... like nice clothes and housewares that people in my family are no longer using.
I don't usually give money because I feel that it gets used for everything but helping people.

*Sigh* I would if I could. Right now I'm paying for a totally needless war. My country is destroying its constitution, and our president is assuming the powers of a dictator. There has been no real growth in peoples incomes in the past 25 years, so I've actually lost money. I have no retirement, its gone. The large coporations have destroyed america.
I have no health insurance, and right now when its time to die, I pray that God will just let me die quite quickly.
