fear is the heart of love is an apparent quote from a nun in the song "I will follow you into the dark", is this an actual biblical or Catholic teaching that I'm not aware of or is this just for the song?

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge (fear in this instance means to have reverential fear) but fear itself is not good and perfect love casts out all fear...fear can hold people captive and people who are held captive are not free, and Christ came that we might be fear and he who the son sets free is free indeed!

Hmm, I'm not sure. But I do know that somewhere in the New Testament (shame on me, I can't give u the book or verses), it says that "Perfect love expels all fear."
So... not biblical, in my opinion. Interesting question.

This is very strange,I have never heard such a song , however the title alone is wrong. You do not follow the dark, You follow the light.A Nun, too weird, anyway no, this is not in the bible and as a child I was raised Catholic,I never heard such a thing.

I went through 12 years of Catholic schooling and was an Altar boy, molestation free thank you, and I have never heard that quote.

that is because if you have God in you there is no need to fear the dark.
