use mousse on wet toweled hair. combed out the way you will style it.start on top and work down . use enough to cover all your hair.comb with your fingers , using fingers scrunch your hair starting at top . squeeze sections of hair in your fingers and squeeze until all the hair is scrunched, do not comb or brush after , leave as is.

Wash your hair w/ curly hair type shampoo if you have it, towel dry, apply a hair serum or curl moisturizer, comb it in, then add moose or gel for curly hair, then just crinkle your hair up in your hands all around your head, that should at least give you a wave if not more curl. Try not to blow dry your hair. Even a diffuser adds some frizz.

I have very straight hair. A perm works good, because you can blow dry it straight. I towel dry my hair, put lots of gell in it. Scrunch it with a towel and then hairspray it. Works pretty good!

Easiest way to make straight hair look wavy is to braid it while it's wet, once dry pull the braids out...instant waves!
