Racism is just about ignorance, add to that some intolerance, and a suppressive attitude and there you have it. Most people don't even know why they are racist. Most races hate each other because of the things they don't understand about each other. Why hate blacks? Blacks built the country from the ground up with there bare hands and made alot of valuable contributions to society as a whole. Why hate whites? True, they did blacks wrong, but there were also a lot of whites who assisted in getting blacks alot of the freedoms we enjoy today, not all white people are "the MAN or the devil". Some blacks thinks whites bring them down when it is really their own laziness and greed that keep them from reaching there goals and living the "good life". Why hate Hispanic/ Latinos? These people, illegal or not, work damn hard and do so much for this country economically. They do all the jobs nobody else wants to or will do. So it really shows how ignorant we ALL can be. Most racists are racists because they were taught to be racist, they were taught to think that by embracing the idea of demeaning another human being for their own satisfaction, they were showing how much pride they had in there kind. Real IGNORANT if you ask me.

Being a southerner, I believe racism is all about color. I have always lived in South Carolina and found that the culture that whites and blacks have are very similar. Although a large portion of whites may not admit it. But it is obvious when you observe whites and blacks with an open mind.
Racism is almost totally about skin color.
Think of this. Do white Americans hate white Germans. In most cases no. Their may be some dislike for the countries/culture, but for the most part, the whites of this country do not dislike the people of Germany.

In some cases both. But in America, though many people claim different ancestoral cultures, we all do share the same culture in the States. We just perceive it differently. So I would say in America, most of the racism is actually about skin color (pathetic) and perceived cultural differences.

The skin color reflects a cultural difference which causes racism in many cases.

It can be one or the other or both. People of the same color tones can still be racist to others of that tone that come from a totally different country and culture. At the same time, some groups act racist towards those of their own that are lighter or darker then others... Basically humans are a pain and we are the only ones we hurt.
