I have a house and apartment and want all my dvd's to be at both places. How can I copy my store bought DVD's for back up reasons only. Is there software out there that bypasses the css encryption code.

It may not be legal to copy the dvds, but dvdshrink is quite common. Most people like it because its free. There are retail pieces of software that will do it too. Shrink will not bypass all protections though.

yes.....the best program Anydvd (take out protection) with Clonedvd (to compress and burn) from www.slysoft.com
it will get rid of all CSS and all sorts of protection like Macrovision etc.
trial version gives you 21 days usage...so i think it'll be enough time for you to back up.
or you can just buy the program.

Nope. There are illegal ways to copy DVD's, but you can face jail time and large fines. There is no illegal way to copy DVD's. Sorry.
