They wanted rock/wall climbing but are too young - clubs start from age 8. I'd like something not too expensive, but fun, prefarably with easy access in north London.

Ice rink at Alexandra Palace

Alexandra Park - an afternoon of games requiring one large picnic, one gazebo and a few bit's & pieces for the games.

Ships is a good game

All the kids pretend they are on a pirate ship.
When the man on watch shouts "Captains Coming" the kids all have to salute and say "aye aye Captain"
When the man on watch shouts "scrub the decks" the kids all have to get down on their knees and pretend to scrub the decks
Man on watch shouts "climb the rigging" they pretend to climb
"sharks coming" run to a designated safe spot (usually parents laps or corners of a room etc.)

Great fun to start with as tires the kids out a bit. Also hilarious to shout the instructions on top of each other and watch the kids try to salute, scrub decks and climb rigging all at once.

Another idea would be Clown Town or the soft play at Brent Cross.

The downstairs section of the science museum is great and I think they cater for parties - it's South Ken so on the Piccadilly Line down from Finsbury Park etc.

Good luck & have fun!!

How about indoor five-a-side soccer with a soft ball.
You could aslo try, Pirate fancy dress or Spaceman fancy dress and theme food and games around this idea.
Treasure Chest cake or Martianmellows and give old, cheap party games a new twist. Hide and seek becomes, stop the mutiny or pass the parcel becomes find the alien.
Little lads love noise and excitement! Good Luck!!

take them bowling my kids love it and my daughter had her first go when she was just 1 1/2 yrs old. i take my kids to Superbowl they have bumpers you can use to stop the balls going down the gutter and a ramp that the child places ( with help ) the ball on and then the can just roll it down the ally. my kids r now 5 n 7 and they still love it and its not too expensive normally about £5 - £6 per person. find your local ally and ring them to see if they have special events on ours does an 4 hr bowling session with food and a DJ for around £10pp hope this helps and you will have fun too trust me good luck in finding something!!

Take them to a "fun for kids" museum or to a movie. When my son was 7 and took him and his friends out to lunch at a new restaurant that had nothing for kids (they FORGOT I had booked the party). The kids got menus and ordered their food, all sat still and quet and were so grown up. It was so much fun to watch them because they were all boys who are used to climbing walls and making noise. Make them feel a little grown up, they love it.

Some sports oriented contests could work such as throwing a ball through a tire.
