Well really it depends what kind. I suggest not getting another great dane. I would get a dog simular size a little younger that will grow to the size of the husky because the smaller female husky dosen't get along with bigger dogs to much if they havn't been around many. Kinda like wolves she knows your house is your home and she tends to be the alpha female. good luck

Oh MY GOSH! I have a 6-month old Siberian Husky, and I recently got a 3 year old mix dog 2 days ago. My husky was so insanely jealous, she kept badgering the dog non-stop, and would grab my hand if I tried to touch the other dog. I actually had to take the mix dog back to the shelter b/c the two kept fighting. I don't know if jealousy is characteristic of huskies, but it was obviously a huge problem with mine!

As far as I know huskies are very territorial dogs. The fact that the husky is a female might be easier. But, you might look and see how she reacts to other dogs around her first. It might be a jealousy issue at first. But it is good that you are thinking of getting her a pal to play with as I feel huskies have major separation anxieties, perhaps she howls/barks alot when no one is around. My cousin had a husky she was cool with another dog but then again the husky was the second dog and not the first dog.

If your husky is a sociable, well adjusted dog she would probably welcome a play mate. Make sure if you get a new puppy that you pay just as much attention to your husky as you do now. Greet her first, pet her first, give her treats first, play with her as much as before. Don't forget huskies are used to being around other dogs (sled dogs), so she'd probably appreciate a new puppy.

No matter what kind of dog it is, it's probably going to be a bit jealous. If you get another dog, don't pay much attention to it, pay tons of attention to the husky for a few days. They will adjust.

Huskies are like wolves and they are generally aloof. The personalities however vary so it is hard to tell it simply by their breed. Bring her to a dog shelter and see how she interacts. If she cant be bothered and wants to be out of there, then to get another dog to be her companion might not be a good reason to get your next dog

It seems to me when you get a new dog that is a puppy they bond well. When they are little puppies...they don't roughouse with them and are very careful.....but once the puppy grows up they have this brother/sister relationship. My first dog is very cautious with other dogs...but the new puppy (who is now almost 2)-she gets along great with and they play all the time, and now even a newer puppy - she is very nice to (and extremely gentle)
