You have to take the time to be alone to think of what it is that makes you happy, what your priorities are, what you stand for, what your values are, you just have to take the time to see what your standard are then practice them and stand by them, it's also called soul searching. Once you know who you are you will never lose it! What is really neat is when you know it and someone will ask your name and you will notice it. It's not just your name its who you are!

Sometimes in life we all feel this way. This is not stupid at all but I think it's a case of going with the flow. How many of us can actually say we know ourselves not many some of us think we do from inside out but then when something happens we are completely taken aback and astonished with the way we react. We are learning all the time it's lessons in life called learning to trust ourselves and living life to the full!!!!!

What worked for me was a bound journal (not expensive). The assignment (in assertiveness training class) was to each day write down 3 positive statements about myself - what I can do or what I am.
The rules were again - it had to be an unequivocally positive statement. It also had to be true and it had to be about me.
Some that I wrote were "I can learn." "I am a friendly person." "I can change the oil in a car."
If you can't think of new ones at any certain time, you can go back, re-read old ones and repeat them on a different day. Try it for 2 weeks. It was an eye-opener for me, because I found I knew how to do a lot, and had a lot of positive things going for me, that I forgot - because it is so much easier to concentrate and remember the negative things about ourselves.
Do try it.

I know how you feel. I am 25 and thought that by now, I would have some things figured out, but I don't. I too feel as though I don't know who I am. I guess that the only thing that you can do is try new things that you never thought you would do. If you like it, you learned something about yourself; if you don't, you reaffirmed that you don't like that and you are not that person.

The people around us are always trying to shape us in some way, and we have to appear to accommodate in order to survive. The real choices that we get to make on our own are actually very few.
I'd say, look around. Decide who you Want to be. Be that person. The God you choose will help you.

Figuring out who you are is a process that takes years. You reflect on what you have done, on memories, on what you have learn, been through, struggled. You reflect on your failure and also your success. Im 21 and i just got out of a serious relationship and somewhere along during, i lost who i am too, kinda weird.

It takes years and years to figure out who you really are. I have no idea who I am. I worry sometimes that I've lost who I am. There is no one way to figure it out, just let it happen. Follow your heart and you'll find your soul.
