Tell your parents that at least it's not a tattoo and if you ever need to you can take out a belly button ring out but with a tattoo it can only be removed and that will cost a good bit of $$$$$. But I would only recommend getting it pierced after 16 yrs of age if not you may get a growth spurt and the hole will stretch and look awful.

how old are you? if you are under 16, then really they have control...(actually technically they have control if you are under 18 but most parents dont mind if their 16 yr old wants a belly button ring) are they strict? You didnt give many details. I got my ring when i was 16. my parents were just happy it wasnt a tattoo. just explain to them that you will take care of it and if they hate it or it gets infected it can always come out and it will heal, just like ear piercings. are they worried that you will be wearing sexier clothes to show it off? i guess it all depends on your age, but just remind them that it can be removed if neccesary, it isnt permenant.

I dint know how old you are or what the situation. But i told my parents i wanted a tattoo, they told me NO off the bat and then a few months latter i said my tongue, they still said NO but I brought up how it closes up. I was 16 when suggested it but didn't bring it back up until i could sign for it myself.

sure, get it pierced. however the piercing will hurt like a B***h, and is easily infected, think it thru first before trying to persuade your parents

Don't even think about getting it pierced - listen to your parents - they know best! When you're older and wiser you can make your own mistakes, but for now be glad you have people who care about you helping you to make sensible decisions.
