I have a Bulldog and one of his ears is really dirty. It doesn't smell at all so i think i can rule out an infection. At the moment i am using baby wipes with aloe, Leo dog ear cleaner (from vet) and i have also tried ear wipes from pet shop. None of these seem to be working, it removes some of the dirt, but then the next day it looks the same again, he also has redness around the inside of his ear. Does anyone know of anything that will/might work for him.

Apparently some bulldogs just have lots of ear wax. My puppy gets wax build up quickly two. I use foster and smith ear wipes 2-3 x week on her. Does a good job cleaning.

I ahve always used (on the advice of my vet) nothing but warm water. If he's got redness in his ear it's from some kind of irritation so don't use anything with alcohol in his ear - it'll sting like crazy. If the redness persists, I'd have the vet check it. Also, if his ear keeps looking dirty after you've just cleaned it and it doesn't smell, he's likely just got a lot of wax in his ears.

I use either a plain Q-tip and sometimes put peroxide on the Q-tip if they are really bad. None of them have ever had any problem afterwards and it gets everything out. Don't put to much on the Q-tip and don't put it too far in their ears, just enough to get the dirt out. The peroxide will also help get water out ot their ears, my vet gave me these suggestions. Sounds like he could very well have an ear infection if its getting dirty that fast and it's red. Please take him on in to the vet!
