I've had success at maintaining my weight with a low fat, near vegetarian diet. Of course, I keep junk food to a minimum.

My diet may not work for you, because I am extremely active. I lift weights for about 30 - 40 minutes 3 to 4 times a week. I usually run, about 5 - 6 times a week, for a total of 25 - 35 miles. I also try to find ways to burn calories through out the day: walk the dog, do chores around the house, leave the TV alone, etc...

When I needed to drop a few pounds I used http://www.fitday.com. It's a free site that allows you to track your calories / food intake and expenditures. So you wind up with a calorie deficit each day, which is the key to any successful weightloss.

Finally, be patient. That is the most important. Weightloss doesn't occur overnight -- the same goes for fitness. Be patient and the results will come.

Feel free to drop me a line if you need more hints. Also you may find it helpful to pick up a Shape or Fitness magazine. They contain a ton of helpful, realistic dieting tips.

Good luck.

I used The Movie Star Diet by Steve Simmons. I lost 50 pounds with it after only five months, and I couldn't be happier. I've tried a lot of different diets (Atkins, South Beach, and Weight Watchers, etc.) and none of them worked anywhere near as well as this one. It's definitely worth a shot if you really want to see a difference in a short time.
