i have had her for about 7 weeks now and she is litter trained, very well! she is an outgoing cat, very friendly, and doesnt get into trouble. i feed her well and all that good jazz, but last ngiht she had an accident in my bed. she is not sick, has not had problems eating or drinking, and still runs around and is healthy. is this normall for kittens to maybe just "wet the bed" liek small children do when they are sleeping? or should i worry and see if somethign is wrong by taking her to the vet? this may sound silyl i know, but this is my first cat, im not realy familure about them! thanks for the help!!!

yes she sleeps in my room normally by my feet with me. this is where it happened. the bedroom door is always open she has free roam of the house, and the litter box is right outside my door.

Well, it could be a large number of things. Yes, sometimes kittens have accidents when they sleep, just like small children but at her age, she should be able to wake up to go to the bathroom. When I first got one of my male cats, he had a little accident in our bed too and he was sleeping but he was also only nine weeks old and it never happened again. It was actually quite sad because as soon as he did it, he woke up and started meowing and crying; I think he thought he was going to get in trouble but of course he didn't because after all, accidents do happen. One thing to consider is if she isn't fixed (spayed) it might be time to do that. She could also be trying to tell you something is wrong with her, such as a UTI (urinary track infection) or something to that affect but I'm not sure I'd jump to that conclusion. She could also be trying to punish you for doing something she didn't like. We had poodles a long time ago who would urinate in my mother's bed to punish her for not letting them sleep with her at night. What I would suggest is talking to your vet about the problem, getting her checked out just to make sure there isn't something wrong with her and take that opportunity to discuss getting her fixed, as well as getting vaccinations and things like that. Your vet will also probably suggest doing some blood tests to make sure her system is normal and she doesn't have any terminal illnesses such as Feline Lukemia (sp?). It's always a good idea to take your pets to the vet if you're in doubt about their health and even just to get a check up and maintain their health. Good luck to you and your new pet!

Yes, it will still need kitten food, wet and dry until they are around a year. The other cats will need some time to get used to the kitten. What I heard is the best thing to do is to keep it in a separate room for a couple of days just so every cat can get used to the different smell. Then take it out, maybe in a cat carrier and let the other cats see it and smell it. The first contact should be brief and supervised. It might take weeks or even a couple of months for the other cats to accept the kitten but don't push them into liking or accepting it, they need to do it in their own pace. Good luck and have fun with the new kitten.

Cats and kittens are not known to just have accidents. Most likely this is a way to let you know she is not happy about something. Maybe she is picky like my cat, god forbid there is ANYTHING in his litter box when he wants to use it. I have to clean it 4 times a day just so that he wont go anywhere else. (the little brat) Did you have a way to the litter box, was the door open for her to get to it, or was there something blocking it and she didnt want to go through the hassle of climbing? Easy access is the best way to ensure that a litter trained cat continues to use the litter box. Also, did you in any way change your routine with her, animals learn routine very easily. If you generaly do the same things daily, she has probably gotten use to that, and if you changed it, it confused her.

I wouldn't jump up and call the vet just yet, give her a little more time.

Don't worry, think of her as being the cat equivalent of a 2 or 3 year old child~ she's bound to have an occasional "accident". Remember to tell her off so she doesn't think your bed is an alternative litter tray!

By the way, did it happen at night, she may have asked to go out of the room but you were too deeply asleep to get up and open the door and she just couldn't wait any more.

Your local pet shop will have a collection of little pamphlets about how to take care of pets, they are usually quite cheap and very handy when you get an animal for the first time. Good luck.

I have had 3 cats do this to me. I think it has something to do with just plain lazy or maybe the litter box being dirty. Some cats will not use a litter box if its not scooped out after each use. Also, the last time my little 6 week old cat did it i was positive it was just a weird thing. If your kitten continues to do it, i would check with your vet, she might have a bladder infection. I know when my last kitten did it to me, it was like he just went there on purpose.

Okay, I've had my cat for a couple of years now. When we first got her she was really nervous and even though she was litter trained she wasn't used to her surroundings entirely. You have to remember your cat is like a baby. She needs time to adjust to what is going on around her and that can take up to a year. Just keep her away from anything expensive until then.
Love me, that's an order

I know how you feel.... We went through the same thing with our first kitten. She just likely made a mistake or didn't get to the litter pan on-time. If she does it again, you may want to scold her for it (just bring her nose close to the spot - not in it - and then plop her into the litter pan -- she'll get the message). If she continues to have a problem, it would be worth a quick visit to the vet. My guess is, she's fine!

It could just be an accident but watch in case it happens again. It could be a developing behavioural problem as well. If it was a physical problem, then it might be 'leaking'/ or dripping avary now and then and you would find wet or damp patches in other places or might even see small drips at the back end. In that case then a vet is recommended.

yes cats as well as dogs have accidents so to speak.... i wouldnt worry to much unless she starts showing signs of illness ...if that happens take her to the vet asap
and as a kitten she is still learning when and where and what and who and all that jazz
so help teach her that she has a box to go in and at 13 weeks i would put the box closer to your bed at night if she sleeps with you that may help her to not have accidents
good luck

was she sleeping when that happened? I have never heard of a cat just going pee on your bed if she can make it to the litter box. I would call the vet and explain what happened, and they'll let you know if you need to bring her in or not.
