My boyfriend and I have been dating for 5mths, he seems happy with me, in fact I know he is happy. but I have never been let inside his head. He never lets me know me how he feels about anything. I find this very bothersome. Is this typical? and how do I nicley ask him how he feels about anything

I think it is quite a downside. I'm sure you know that he loves you, but it is such a romantic thing to hear it and to get it confirmed.
Some guys just don't have that in them, so you may have to live with it. If he is has some very nice other qualities that should make up for it. If it keeps bothering you it might be a sign that your relationship is over the top. Sorry if I sound negative, I just want to give you an honest answer, not give you the most likely answer for 10 points.

I'm in the same situation, but it's been almost five years. Some guys are just not expressive; and some guys will string you along knowing you love them and won't leave. And when you try to talk to them about it, they jump. It's up to you to decide if you can either nail him down about it or accept him the way he is. I've been trying to do both and it seems like a phenomenal waste of time. I highly recommend not investing emotion in him any further lest you end up like me.

Men don't like to talk about their feelings, unless they are gay or metrosexual. He will talk about his feelings when he needs to. I'm the same way. How would you feel if he was always talking about his feelings, I bet you wouldn't like that so much.

he will never change so move on or talk to him about what your feeling from him and ask him why he doesn't show his feelings

Stop the nagging and do more sexually for him make yourself the one and only or someone else will
