My hair is thinner than it before due to overprocessing...constant perms, braids, coloring, etc. Now I have dreads, but I want to find away to have a nice grain around the edges. Is there a full proof product that I can use to undo the damage....only serious people who know what they are talking about please respond.

Try using cayenne pepper or peppermint oil in your shampoo. These are known stimulants. Gently massage your scalp while washing your hair, paying attention to 'trouble areas'. It will make your scalp tingle and promote hair growth. As others have mentioned, don't apply any gel etc- keep the scalp clean, take your vitamins, eat well and leave the rest to God!

Try to just let that area breathe for a while. No chemicals, gels, spritz, or any other stuff besides shampoo, conditioner and a light moisturizer. Although, you want to get this area clean and moisturized...you don't want to put too much stuff on it because it will clog your pores and your hair still won't grow back. So, just let the area breathe. In addition, you may want to try to gently massage the area with your fingertips. The stimulation from your fingers stimulates the follicle causing hair growth to take place. Good Luck!

If you relax your hair like I do use an organic perm. Also go to a beautician every two weeks. If it's damaged get them deep conditoned. My stylist uses some kind of conditioning stick on my edges. use a silicone hair polish and wrap your hair EVERY night.

Apply a hair dressing that contains natural herbs and vitamins and apply around your hair line and temples and message it in. I use African Pride and Mane 'n Tail Carrot Oil Cream. Do this twice a week. You might as well do your entire head. Scalp and message it all.

I know a lot of black women who have this problem. I can't think of the name to it, but it is a form of chronic hairloss. What happend is your hair in that area has been pulled back so tightly for so long that your hair folicles where unable to continue to grow, or strengthen themselves. The only product that can help regrow your hair is something like Rogain for women. Speak with your demetologist (especially a black one). For unfortunatly all the research I've done on this says the damage can be permanate. CAN BE. Try:

There is nothing to undo the damage....If you want it to grow back in if it has been pulled from the root...try rogain....but otherwise you are just going to have to wait for the hair to grow back in

For future reference, put Neosporin wherever your hair falls out. Think about it: the open pore where your hair used to be is now a wound, so if you don't put Neosporin, it'll get infected and take forever to grow back.

From one dread sista to another. Get some Dax hair grease and keep your edges grease and condition. Give them time to grow back love your self and your hair. I've had my locks for 18yrs I'm very serious when it comes to my hair. Always be serious when it comes to yours. Good luck.

TO KANAKAS: Yes, that does help. Also, drink a lot of water. I find that when I don't drink a lot of water (I HATE drinking water), my hair gets dry and brittle.
