try using a heat embossing gun..it is still slow but no chemicals are being using and a lot faster than scrapping alone..it took us one day to scrape a wall with just a scraper with the heat gun we got the other 3 walls done in 1/2 the time of the other wall...good luck

Go to home depot and get some paint thinner, my father uses it, it melts the paint right off. it really works, but don't let it get on your skin.

The best way is to scrap it off with a razor blade, (but messy) I would also try low oder or orange stripper if you do not want to scrap.
