Teachers are learning to use hand guns. I think we can come up with something better than fighting violence with more violence. I have a little one in school and would not know what to do if he found a gun in the teacher desk or something. We hear about kids shooting each other because they found mommy or daddy's gun at home. I feel that it is a bad idea allowing teachers to bring a gun to school for protection.

I think teachers being trained and armed is a great idea. They are the first line of defense against a threat. Obviously, the teacher is not going to leave his/her firearm in a desk where they can't get to it instantly. The teacher would have to be carrying the weapon concealed on their person at all times. I have a little one in school also (1st grade) and I would feel completely safe with a trained and armed teacher. All kids should be trained on what to do if they happen upon a firearm, not only those kids who have guns in their home. Guns are not the problem here, nor anywhere for that matter. Unbalanced and uneducated people are the problem.

having a gun for protection is not violence an armed student slaughtering innocent people is violence

I find i strange for teachers to be armed but armed police officers at schools and armed security members because they are trained to protect others and only use it sparingly

I don't think it should be required, but it shouldn't be against the law. It could save lives.
OTOH, most teachers today are rather liberal.
