I was just curious how is life of a Military Police officer in the USAF? That's what I was thinking of going into, that or if I can make the score, a Pararescue Apprentice, or possibly even EOD, but I don't want to go deaf :| Is it dangerous at times? Boring i'd assume? Though it seems like one of the jobs where it'd be beneficial once you're out, maybe if you plan on going into a career in Law Enforcement? I'm just into the kind of exciting jobs, here's the list I made that interested me off the USAF site.

(Not in any specific order)

*Aerial Gunner*
*Military Police*
*EOD*
*Pararescue Apprentice*
*SERE [Survival.Evasion.Resistance.Escape]* (I don't think i'm hardcore enough for this job honestly.)
*Aircraft Loadmaster Apprentice* (This interests me, but it says you have to be good in Math, which i'm not =\)

I will enlist soon, and i'm just curious as to what people think of these jobs. I also would like to settle with a family sometime, not wanting to be out ALL the time

Life as Security Forces, hmmmm. It can be pretty boring, especially if you are the guy standing at the guard shack checking ID's all day. Also if you are the guy stuck guarding the armory, all you do is check weapons in and out and clean. If you want to be a cop when you get out then this is the way to go.

Aerial Gunners are the guys mainly in the back of large aircraft with a large machine gun and nothing else to protect them. You are often times the first and last line of defense for the aircraft you are in.

E.O.D., these guys are in high demand, especially in Iraq and Afghanistan considering the large amounts of I.E.D.'s over in those areas. Yes, this job can be very dangerous, that's why not a lot of people try for this job. This job could help get you on the Bomb Squad of a police department after you get out.

Para-rescue and S.E.R.E., great jobs. In order to get into these jobs you will have a special P.F.T. to pass called a P.A.S. (Physical Agility and Stamina) Test. The passing qualifications are much higher than your normal entrance P.F.T. for basic. These jobs are not very conducive for having a family, because of the unpredictable schedules and assignments.

Aircraft Loadmaster can be a very exciting job. All you do is coordinate with the load crew as to what gets loaded when and where. Yes you do have to be proficient in math, but they will teach you all the equations that you need to know for this job during tech school.

I hope this helps

Aerial Gunner would be the most relaxed. Air Force MPS guard bases and give people tickets. EOD your going to be disarming IED's. SERE way to hard even if ur in tip top shape. Aircraft loader dont know pretty sure your going to be lifting. But Aerial Gunner if you can get the job would be pretty cool.

From what i've got seen the wide-unfold public of police come from military infantry. i do no longer understand if that's purely using human beings I draw close out with or no longer even with the undeniable fact that it rather is a few thing to contemplate. What i could do is head down on your close by police station and ask them what they could like. maximum police commanders would be happy to shar what they think of is greater advantageous. i'm going to wor you approximately this even with the incontrovertible fact that, military MPs are available in 2 varieties, attempt against MPs and garrison MPs. The attempt against MPs do no longer rather do something that would properly be transferred to civilian law enforcement officers however the garrison MPs do. What i've got heard is that maximum departments are skittish approximately defense force law enforcement officers because of the fact the guidelines and tactics are so diverse from their own that in the process their eyes you improve undesirable behavior that would properly be tricky to interrupt. i could truthfully communicate on your close by police tension to get an theory what they're finding for.

The Air Force doesn't have MPs. It has SPs. If you join the AF, you give them a list of five MOS wishes. They may or may not give you an MOS on that list. They always need EOD because it pays too well in the civilian world. There seem to be beat cops everywhere.

SERE is a skill, not an MOS. You can't constantly evade and resist for no apparent reason. You have to have something to do once you've escaped, and that's your MOS.
