this has happenned since the recent split of his parants, yes an obvious connection, and he was completely dry beforehand
he stays with his Daddy and us for a lot of the time, and although he does miss his Mum he seems happy , is eating and sleeping better. when he is with his Mum he still holds onto his urine. This may become a problem at nursery as he is not going to the loo at all.
We are dealing with this by not referencing to it except to gently remind him where his potty is, or ignoring it. we are hoping it will phase out as time goes by, but maybe there are folk out there who have experienced this?

i used these games with my son. you could keep a zip lock bag of cheerios in the br. have him throw one in every hour on the hour and try to sink it. make it fun boys love pee games. or throw a couple in at a time to see how many he can hit. honey combs flip over when pee'd on. use a cooking timer and let him wind it. rewards are good. find what it is he likes and make a big boy chart. if he likes match box 20 stars on the chart gets him one. good luck

I have a 4 yr old and we had the same problem. We made a game out of going to the bathroom. Every time she went she got to ring a bell and every one stoped what they were doing and told her what a big girl she was. We danced around and made her feel great. When it comes to the nursery you need to talk to those that work there and tell them what is going on. They will be able to help him to the loo and give you good ideas on how to keep him in the potty state of mind.

Even though his parents splitting up probably have a lot to do with it alot of children go thru this. You may just need to remind him to go in about every hour and make him just try. I had to do this with my daughter for a few months. No changes in our lives just got busy playing and didn't want to stop. I still remind her on ocassion and she is 4 1/2 because she will wait until the last minute and nearly pee herself trying to get there. Just reinforce it. I am sure he wil be back to going on his own again once things settle down.

it is spite work for attention, let his parents sit down and try to talk it out. maybe he can give them an answer, if not ,he has a problem, if you put him back in diapers,he might resent it and stop wetting, you can also use the star reward program,
set up a calendar, and for everyday he stays dry he gets a star. add it up and at the end of the week if he stays dry for all 7 days give him a reward, let him pick a toy from the store. or take him to mcdonald's. you get the idea. it worked for me.

i might want to certainly make an appointment on the vet. Have him checked over truly properly. If the vet says he has no type of an infection or different issues he might want to easily have incontinence and also you are able to purchase abdomen bands and positioned an popular female pad contained in the tummy band to absorb moisture. make particular you verify the pad there each and every hour, each and every time it feels moist positioned a sparkling one there otherwise he might want to get a rash and/or an infection from being left moist. at the same time as he has to flow to apply something room take the tummy band off!

I think he will hold it when he is with people he is not comfortable with. It is a symptom of the fact that he is disturbed, but it is only a symptom. He is too young to deal with the trauma caused by his parents split. I used to do it when I was very young, but only when I was looked after by someone I didn't feel at ease with. That was someone of the opposite sex, as in your case.
