My husband is dying to go and I would like to plan a trip next year for the family (we also have a 3yr old daughter). It seems to be more expensive than most islands. I would like to travel a bit off the beaten path. My husband speaks Creole and French (but he's not from Martinique) and can help us get around. Does anyone have any person experiences/recommendations about Martinique?

The French side is very dirty and I am afraid to say people are not very nice.Dutch side is more clean and nicer. You can do some good shopping there.I can¸t remember but I think they take Euros as well.

I have been to Martinique but I didn't see much of it except under water, I went scuba diving there (when we were in port for my cruise)...good diving, and it seemed a very pretty island.

if your husband does speak french make sure you go on the french side of the island because it will be worthless if you went on th dutch side. but it's beautiful really like every where in the Caribbean
