If I was without a doubt, going to die, and I was in pain, and I was causing an emotional or financial burden to my loved ones...if my quality of life is so bad, that I want to escape from it, then that should be MY choice...
Asking someone to help me, would indeed be difficult, but if my natural death is anticipated to be harsh, I would much rather die peacefully in my sleep. We euthanize our beloved pets, when their quality of life has deteriorated badly, and don't even think twice about it being wrong. Yet, we want our beloved humans to suffer until the very end. I so disagree with that train of thought

When you are ready to go, you should go. But if there is more life to be lived, then keep going. As the first person has already mentioned it from a religious standpoint, I'll argue it for practicality. If you die before you need to, what are the chances you might have lived a good life after? And if you choose not to die, you eventually will die anyway. Therefore, we can deduce that it's only a matter of time before you die anyway, so why not live it out and see what happens.

That anyone gets to the point in life they desire it enough to ask for help and that someone they love sees their pain to consider it an option is an awful place to be in. I will refrain from judging any actions till I have been there myself. And I pray I never have the knowledge to judge.

God is the only one who should be deciding when we live or die, but I still have mixed feelings on this issue.
