ok, i am so in love with this guy, and i've loved him for years. we've been best friends for 10 years and a little more for 4. he makes me feel so special and like he loves me, but he says that he's an a$$ and that i wouldn't want to be in a relationship with him. how can i make him see that he is the most special, loving, caring person in my life besides my kids and that he's not a bad guy? serious answers please.

Sweetie you can't make a person love themself. They have to learn to do that on their own. From what I see, he gets his cake and eats it too!! He got it made! He gets to have you for a bestfriend, more a little more, and the two of you hang out but just without the exclusiveness of the relationship. As a woman you seem to want the stability of a relationship and he seems to be using lame excuses to get out of giving you one. He says he's an ***, but he should realize that if you thought he was such an a***, you wouldn't want to be with him. And who knows him better than you? I mean damn! YOu and this man have been friends for 14 years!!
I know that wasn't your question so let me answer your question: You have to just encourage him, since he's coming down hard on himself, you have to lift his spirits and self esteem so he can gain confidence about himself, then he'll realize. Let him know his wonderful qualities, tell him you're proud to be his friend, compliment him on his looks, intelligence, etc...

Gather 3 or 4 or more of your closest friends. Set the premise what they say will not have any repercussions on the friendship. Ask them to tell you what they think about you and him. You might do this alone the first time or have him there too. If they all have the same opinion then how can he not accept the truth as you see it? If they don't then maybe you are missing something about him. That is why I say maybe you should do it first yourself.
Good luck.

Ok now ..I wouldnt be worried if I were u..I say that many times to ppl I really love coz I think that they are givin me more than I deserve..Its as if I have set a limit and when some one gives more I overflow and warn them that ur givin me too much..I know its odd but hes got like a little low self esteem I think as far as ur relationship is concerned. Tell him to stop tellin u that hs an *** and that we are all different and if someone doent like him or somethin u and ur kids DO and thats all that matters :)
God Bless Ya.
