Only to the most delicate of palates. Although, the colour of the icing will have a psychological effect on the eater, so they may believe it tastes different, but in fact it'll just be in their minds. Do an experiment with the same batch of icing, colouring different portions differently, and keeping one white, ice some little cakes, and ask a friend (who is unaware of the fact it's the same icing) to test them all, and see what they think!

Generally, NO. However, there are some reds that do have a bad flavor. You can buy a no flavor red coloring gel by Wilton's at most hobby stores and even Wal-mart. (at Wal-mart look with the craft stuff, not food). The Wilton's colroing gels work better for more intense and darker colors than liquid food coloring. Be careful not to add so much that it changes the consistency of your frosting.

I have used food coloring in my frosting quite a bit and have never had the issue of it changing the flavor.

Food coloring does not change the flavor of any food. It gives frosting a wonderful decorative quality. I use it all the time.

The answer is yes AND no.

If you use food coloring that comes in the little plastic droppers, generally it will not affect the flavor. Likewise with the powdered colorings.

However, if you use the oil or paste forms, you MAY notice a slight bitteness in your frosting. This is especially true if trying to achieve a deep red or dark black color.

Always work with fresh colorings to reduce the risk of tainted flavor. Also use the correct colors, i.e. Christmas red for Christmas red, instead of trying to compensate by using more of a "not quite right" color.

in my experiance of designing cakes, it all depends on the food coloring dye you choose as in the product. You can get flavored food dye, which is expensive. If you are talking about regular food coloring, it does not change the flavor of the frosting. Hope that helps.

No, food coloring doesn't change the flavor. Only the appearance. Some colors may look more inviting or appealing than others.

No, it makes your frosting colorful, if you wanna flavor it by flavored extract. Otherwise you'll just get a colorful frosting unless you use a ton of it then you may taste it just a little bit.

No, not at all.
To change the flavor of frosting to match the new color, let's say orange, you can add a few drops of orange extract to the frosting when you add the orange food coloring. :)

The Food coloring does not change the flavor of any item that you are cooking just the color. Last night my step daughter and I made a blue and green half vanilla cake and that is just what it tasted like. Vanilla Cake.

Hope this helps.
