I dont know whats wrong. I had one die a week ago at four weeks. This one is five weeks. He is weak and when I found him this morning he was cold. I got his body temp up and he is still breathing and every once in a while he will cry. I gave him some water with a dropper and he drank it. The mom is still acting intreasted in him and she is cleaning him but he wont nurse. I cannot take him to the vet. It is not an option, because I have no money. Someone please tell me what I can do to save him? Or maybe what could be killing him. I dont want the last one to die too.

mnsite, You dont know me. How dare you say someting like that, you heartless b i t c h. I do care for the kittens but I have a child and one on the way so I dont have the money plus I dont have transportation to get there. How about you give me the money for the vet bill. I want to save him but there is only so much that i am able to do. Its either take the cat to the vet or buy food for my child. You need to think before you speak.

As soon as possible, go to Walmart to the cat section. They sell kitten suplement milk in the can. If they are out out of the canned, get the powdered, and mix it accordingly. Be sure to fallow the directions. Get a nurser bottle, and split the end open with a razor/sharp knife. Make an x in the tip. Forse feed your baby a little at a time. Be extra careful not to choke it. Continue with this every 1/2 hour. She may only take a swallow or two, but she will get some of the nurishment of the milk. Dont give up, and keep her as warm as possible. Hurry, it sounds as if you dont have much time left. Please forget about that stupid remark that idiot made, and consintrate on the baby.

If you can't take him to the vet then you need to take him to a shelter. Depending on where you live there may even be someone who can come pick him (and your other animals) up. They can either save him or they can put him down humanly so he doesn't suffer. If you can't afford the vet bills then you really shouldn't have the animals in the first place. I know how you feel though, I LOVE animals and the only thing stopping me from having more than I already do is the fact that they are expensive. You need to think about what is best for all involved. If you can't afford to feed your kids and take care of your pets then you should not have the pets. Sorry to say that but you asked and I don't like people who hurt animals, intentionally or unintentionally.
By the way, you can call me a "heartless b***h" too but I think that a person who can watch a kitten die is worse than those of us that YOU ASKED to express our opinions.

Im not a vet but I am going to school to be a vet tech...from what your saying things dont sound good. Unfortunatly to know whats the best to do the animal would have to be seen by a vet. I guess my suggestion would be to keeping giving the animal h20 so it doesnt become dehydrated and also there is a food (liquid) at the pet store you can get that is for nursing animals...this would not be the same as nursing but at least the animal would get some much needed nutritients from it.

I think your kitten needs medical attention so here is a website for the Humane Society, it can help you locate a animal shelter in your area. Just make sure if you are going to try to get treatment through a shelter that it is a "no kill shelter", I'm not sure if you are going to have to give up the kitten in order for it to receive treatment but if the kitten can live with their help, give it to them. I think most of the times animal shelter's will work with local vet's on giving treatment to their sick animals with little or no fee. The only other thing I can suggest is if you have a PetSmart around you, they also work with local animal shelters and may be able to help. They have volunteers that transport animals back and forth from the shelters to the adoption centers and so you may find a volunteer willing to make a trip to your house if you don't have transportation. Oh, and don't give your kitten to animal control. Try to continue feeding the kitten and keeping it warm until you can find some help. Best of luck.

If he won't nurse he will die. He could have a cold that is causing him to not want to nurse. Upper respiratory problems will kill a kitten. You can try tube feeding him, but if you're not sure how to do it, you could kill him. Course he'll die anyway if you do nothing.
I would contact your vet and ask if you can make payments for the vet visit. Or go to a petsmart that has a Banfield Vet inside. For five dollars you can buy a new pet parent kit that includes a coupon for a free visit to the Banfield vet. There may be other charges, but the office visit is free with the coupon. But your vet, whom you should already have a relationship with, is your very best option. Try to make some sort of arrangement with him first.
The fact that you don't have money for the vet should have a been a clue that you should not let your cat breed. Get her spayed asap, because when cats have kittens you need to EXPECT vet bills. They always come up with problems when you need them the least.

There is a good chance that a vet or vet ER in your area has a policy of not turning away animals in dire need.
Try the resource below for a local Friends of Animals or whatever. Give them a call. If they can't help, they may be able to point you in the right direction.
At the very least, they can try to narrow down the cause over the phone.
Good luck

Could be hookworms. I bought a puppy that was ok the first day I got him, then the next day he got weak. By the end of the day, he was really bad, took him to the emergency clinic, he died as I took him inside. Vet said he was eaten up by hookworms, not much that can be done once they have them bad enough to make them weak. Get some wormer medicine from the pet store that can be given to kittens, and treat the others.
I did read your note that a vet was not an option, and if it is hookworm, it is a waste of time anyway, the kitten will die.

Your only option is to get the cat to a vet. Animal shelters often have low cost vet clinics. Most vets will allow payment plans. I am very very sorry, you will not like to hear this, but if you cannot afford the vet care, you cannot afford the cat. If you surrender the kitten to an animal shelter they will treat it and put it up for adoption. In some areas the animal rescue people will come to your house ot pick up an animal you are surrendering. Otherwise, please beg a ride from a friend, neighbor, relative to get the kitten to proper care.

Maybe your kitten didnt pick up essential nutrients in the mothers milk to help it fight off diseases/bacteria. Or you could have your house too cold....or something like that.
Your only option is to go to the vet, because that kitten is going to die if you dont. If you have to, borrow some money from somebody....or go pawn something you own (video games or such---you can get them back if you pay for it within 30 days).
Or discuss with your vet a payment plan....they should be able to help you with this.

My heart goes out to you!!!!!
Please do not listen to people who have NO understanding whatsoever about animals.
Wrap the kitty in a blanket, maybe put a hot water bottle under a cusion with the kitty on top.
Try and encourage the kitty to some lovely mamas milk, but don't beat yourself up if the kitty does not have it.
Please remember that cats on a genetic level are wild animals, they pick up soooo many illnesses and infections.
Sometimes they just die even when they have the best medical care.
Let me know how the little one gets on.
Hello to your little one!
