Even if the drugs and technically out of your system, it takes your body about a year to completely recover. In that time, you will have nightmares and "using dreams."

I can't speak for you, but I can tell you my own experience - I used to toke every day (usually several times a day) and there came a point when I needed to stop. There was a lot I was avoiding in my life and pot helped suppress it. When I stopped, I started having all these really vivid and terrifying dreams that seemed to last for hours and I could not wake up from. As I figured out some of the reasons for my depression & anxiety, started doing the things I had been avoiding, as my chemistry returned to normal, slowly the dreams got less intense and less frequent.

And PS re: previous answer - psych meds that have been around for a few decades are NOT healthier than herbs that people have been using safely for millenia. In fact many of them have much more severe side effects and withdrawal symptoms (I happen to be in hell at the moment with celexa withdrawal).

And pot is NOT carcinogenic, as many people know it is used medically to help restore appetite and ease nausea during chemotherapy, among many other medicinal uses. Recent study:

Nightmares are usually caused by stress and worry... Learn to relax more when you go to bed and spend those last few minutes before you drift off daydreaming about pleasant things...

my daydreams tend to center around multitudes of beautiful women with little to no clothing, and I haven't had a nightmare in a long time....

drug dreams are pretty normal. Especially when coming off pot, I had some doozies when I quit 20 years ago. It took a good year for them to quit. I started journalling and spoke with my AA/NA sponsor about them. It really helped to get it out in the open.

Smoking Pot hasn't got a darn thing to do with nightmares. Your suffering something else unless, you were intelligent enough to know you were'nt smoking pot or was it laced or dipped into chemicals that fool a majority of stupid idiots who think they have a some fire pot when in fact their smoking insecticde.

(Warning) Just because pot looks good, smells good doesn't mean a damn thing. Remember that!!

Until you light it and smoke it and have the intelligence to know the diffrerence you won't know, but Pot Heads normally don;t give damn because their brain is fried already.

A psychiatrist should be able to prescribe medication for you to get through the worst of it. You won't have to take it forever. A lot of people don't want to take medication, even if they are okay with using illegal drugs.

Think of it this way, using a prescribed medication temporarily is a lot healthier than using an illegal, habit forming, cancer-causing drug.

Good luck!

deal with it nightmares are fun. Maybe write them down in the morning and write a book like stephen king. Nightmares are better than dieing of lung cancer from pot or ruining your brain (long term use does cause brain abnormalities and trouble concentrating).

Go to a psychologist and see what they say. You could have something that you were self medicating. If you hate medication, trust me I understand, I hate it too. But just saying this to help you. Maybe they could help you anyway, just with talking.
