Generally the fighting of bacteria is the job of the white cells.

The red cells' job is to keep everything working, muscles, digestion, bringing of food etc.

If there are only a few bacteria, a passerby white cell will simply snag them , and destroy them. If theres a lot more bacteria, the platelets (smallest blood cell) corner and immobilize them. Then a lot of the white cells come to help. The big macrophage (monocytes) engulf and destroy, Granulocytes (also white cells) are the ones who do most of the work. They secrete enzymes that will kill the bacteria that they have trapped within. However, they will also die. WHen you see the little white areas such as the middle of a pimple, those are the remnants of the white cells that have done their job fighting and isolating the bacteria that causes pimples.
