What are disconnected volumes?

I'm well aware of what a dynamic volume is, but what does it mean when a volume can be disconnected?

It means it can be unmounted, or in the case of a usb drive unplugged

it is disconnected , cut off like power supply dont pay the bill the power gets disconnected , cut off
