I assume you're talking about wireless communication.

Of course the main advantage is that you don't need to be limited to a physical cable connection.

The main disadvantage is interference or other signal related issues. And as wireless technology becomes more and more popular, it is getting tougher and tougher to get a stable connection.

There is also the danger of increasing cancer risk for everyone, which is probably extremely negligible if you only use your cordless phone 10 minutes a day. But in big urban environments where there is thousands of wireless signals going around you on top of your wireless router and cordless phone, I'd be willing to bet that life expectancy will drop because of that.
