And is this a bad combination?

I don't see how that's any different from a non-religious person going into politics. After all, with religion there are usually a standard of morality, where non-religious people make their own standards... not that this is bad, however they are not bound to ethics in the same way.
My main point is that religious and non-religious people go into politics alike, and these two factors are both important. Religious affiliation doesn't negatively affect politics, if anything it enhances it.

I am not so into politics, just keep myself updated with what is going on around me in the world.

But it is not a bad combination. Religion is a part of everything. The combination goes rotten when religion is used as a facade to hide true political, economic, or whatever kind of purposes. Committing crimes in the name of religion is the bad thing.

I'm not religious or into politics, I don't get it either. I'm just me, and I try to do what God wants me to do, always.

The combination has proven to be a bad one, hasn't it? I don't know...

It's not a bad combination...I'm into politics because I am a citizen of the United States, and I have a right to voice my opinion. I feel people fought long and hard so women and young people could vote, and I should use the privelage. Voting is a right, but it's also a privelage. Women, blacks, and people under 21 weren't allowed to vote for a LONG time. I vote to thank those who went before me.

Christians should not be involved in politics. Man-made governments are soon to be replaced with God's Kingdom as the only ruling government over the earth. No more will we have to put up with human rulers who cannot solve mankinds problems, but usually add to them. Humans were not meant to rule over other humans and for thousands of years they have tried and failed. Daniel 2:44 assures us of a government which will never end:---"And in the days of these kings(present governments) shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever."
God's heavenly government is the only hope for all mankind and the only one that will bring total peace and security to the earth.
No more voting or elections ever again. The Bible tells us not to put our trust in human rulers, for they cannot offer us salvation.
( Psalms 146:3)

Because what you believe determines how you behave. Politics is all about controlling people's behavior. Also, in case you haven't noticed, there are really only two sides to politics in this country. Liberal and Conservative. ""Middle-of-the-Road" is just fence-sitting for people who are really one or the other of the first two. Notice that the Liberal causes are all godless and sin-loving, and the Conservative causes are all about honoring the Creator and His Laws for living. And no, you didn't come from monkeys.

Because politics is so powerful and can be abused so easily, it needs to be tempered by those with virtues so that it doesn't totally become corrupt.
