Rangers had Catholics playing for them years ago and famously Mo Johnston when they stole him from under the noses of Celtic.
Sadly football in Glasgow is as much about the religion as anything else. As an outsider, I can see it from both sides, with Rangers and Celtic both as guilty as each other of bigotry. For soem reason though, it seems that it is always Rangers that suffer and get tarred with the bigot brush solely.
They are not without blame but Celtic are as guilty. Anyway back to your question. Le Guen isn't the first Catholic. However, based on current performances, he may well be the last lol

because they where rotten to the core if it wasn't for there new chairman David Murray they would still have that signing policy...as for Celtic it has never been a problem what religion you are as long as you can play football the Glasgow Celtic way.let's get one thing straight here only in Scotland is it offencive to have catholic Irish roots.check out the statistics on sectarian assaults the evidence speaks for itself....god bless Ireland

It was originally a Protestant football club and Celtic was a Catholic football club, now they are trying to stop the Catholic /Protestant discrimination
